FAQs
Is this class suitable for beginners?
No experience is necessary!
What is a zine?
Quick and inexpensive to create, zines are a DIY book incorporating paper folding, expressive text and visual art. They are a powerful communication tool around memories and/or ideas. Zines are a work of art!
How are you able to support my wellbeing?
It is important that people look after their own wellbeing in lots of different ways that include things such as physical activity, yoga, mindfulness exercises and creativity. In this class we will be drawing upon memories that have positive associations to create our zine / artwork. The resulting zine will provide a memory aid about a time when we felt strong, supported and happy. The intention of this workshop is that the tools within this activity can be used in different moments and contexts to continue to support wellbeing beyond this workshop, and as part of your wider wellbeing practice.
Are the contents of the kit environmentally friendly?
Wherever possible I keep issues about the environment front-and-centre (I even made a zine about it). The Wellbeing Zine-making Kit includes handmade papers, a sustainable wooden tool and recycled and reusable materials!

I really enjoyed this workshop with Sarah. I went in with an idea in mind, but was totally surprised with the end results. Sarah's helpful prompting and guidance inspired me to do something totally different and I'm all the more happy for it. I'm not the best artist, but the creation of the Zine is what is most important here, and despite being in a room full of other students, I could zone out to my own wonderful creative space. Highly recommended :)

It was a brilliant workshop. I'm the least artsy person you can imagine and yet thoroughly enjoyed my time. Both me and my wife attended, the format worked really well and it's something wholesome and different to do as a couple activity.

A lovely introduction that takes you through three different ways to create a zine. Good progression from beginners to more advanced. Really lovely to revisit a special memory and weave it into a zine. A great keep sake. Thank you

I did this workshop online during lockdown. Sarah made every step totally clear, which was needed as I have never made a booklet out of folding before. She showed a lovely example and inspired us to think of our own content rather than copying hers. We were free to write, draw or anything on the pages to illustrate our feelings and I am left with a lovely zine and ideas for making more.

I took this workshop as a beginner and I really think Zines are great! I think it is because the page is so small that there isn't the pressure to fill the whole page with excellent writing or drawing, you can be more free. Sarah is very relaxed and encouraging and I found the whole workshop fun.
