What happens in this class?

You will be guided through how to lay out the fibres to make a flat piece of felt as well as using carders to blend colours. Then using the reference material you have brought with you, create a simple figurative or abstract image for the top. Lastly you'll learn how to transform all the loose fibres into a piece of cloth.

If you can't quite decide what type of image to create Heather's home is full of art and design books and if need be she can print you an image to adapt.

I booked a class with my friend as a gift, and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. Heather sent an email well before the class with additional info and instructions on finding the venue and was very welcoming on arrival offering tea and biscuits. The instructions for the class were clear and the materials were good quality. The atmosphere was relaxed and we both came away with something we made that we really liked. Ideal!

I went with a friend to the felt 2D workshop and we both had a brilliant time. Loads of help, advice and information. We were shown then encouraged . I loved every minute of my time. I learnt something new and produced a picture . I will be returning in the future . I recommend this whole heartedly.

We loved this class. A really fun activity, well organised and taught by a lovely teacher who had even baked goodies for us. Even with no prior experience we produced felting that we were really pleased with. It was a very relaxed, enjoyable way to spend a Saturday morning. I’d definitely recommend and would book to do it again.

I really enjoyed this class. It was my first time wet felting and Heather struck a great balance between explaining the process and guiding us through while allowing us to learn by doing. I feel like I have a good basis for continuing with my own projects. Heather was also really welcoming and fun to chat to. She even threw in a bit of felting history. A really fun and pleasant learning experience.

Spent a really lovely morning with my friend learning how to do 2-D felting. It was a great experience, Heather gave us really detailed instructions and helped us to create our pieces which came out really beautifully. She was very friendly and provided us with some very tasty refreshments as well. It was a really positive experience and really fun to learn a new skill and take away our felt piece at the end.

A very relaxing and rewarding few hours. Heather is a great host and fantastic explainer of the process from beginning to end. We enjoyed the experience and would recommend to others as a creative introduction to wet felting.

Heather was a great teacher and even made cake for the class! Wet Felt Making was lots of fun. None of us (6) had ever done it before and we were shocked what we could produce and take home after 3hours. Would definitely recommend!

This class was excellent and surpassed all of my expectations. Neither myself or my mum had ever done any felting before and we aren’t particularly artistically inclined. Heather was an excellent teacher and even made cake for us! She talked us through the process of creating the felt as we went, and provided us with everything we needed and every colour of felt under the sun. We were both able to produce a piece of felt that we were happy with thanks to heathers tuition. and now have the building blocks to be able to create more. We may book on to the course again, and we would recommend the course to anyone!

All great. A wonderful way to spend a day. There was a generous supply of materials used for the class. A small intimate class with one on one attention. Perfect. I will definitely return for a more advanced tutorial. After viewing tutorials on line with no success this is the way to go. Thank you to Purr and Wag for a great day and delicious chocolate torte to end. Fritz.

This was a really informative and enjoyable workshop. I had done other felting workshops before but I’m confident this would be also be suitable for complete beginner. I was guided through a range of techniques and was able to complete a picture working alongside Heather in the second half of the video. I’d suggest not starting with a design but pausing in the middle to assemble it once you’ve seen the various ways this can be achieved. I came away with the understanding of how to make further pieces on my own and feel inspired to keep going! Highly recommended.

A very good introduction to 2D wet felting with a finished personal felt creation to take away at the end of the afternoon. The venue was handy for Denmark Hill train station and Heather provided a cuppa and delicious cake. The small group size of 4 allowed for individual help when required and Heather kept an eye on the time and gently moved us through the different stages so we all completed our pieces. No matter what subject, there was a rainbow of coloured wool to choose from or to blend to produce the right shade. We learned extra on how effects could be achieved from observation of other students‘ pieces. Heather answered all my questions promptly before and after the workshop. For those few hours of the workshop I was totally absorbed in the process and the whole experience was a pleasure. thank you

This is my second workshop with Heather at Purr & Wag It, I came back as I enjoyed the first workshop so much. I created a picture again but used a slightly different technique and really enjoyed the experience. Heather was helpful and informative, and creates a lovely relaxed atmosphere to work in. She also makes wonderful tea and cake! Thanks Heather!
