Things to remember

You'll have everything you need waiting for you here, including refreshments, parking, lockers for your possessions and room to change. Please note that, as each student will be making different work, the cost of materials is not included in the course fee and will be charged separately.

FAQs
Are these classes suitable for people who are new to the studio?
Not quite! You'll have a tutor to guide you whenever you need, but you will be expected to be familiar with all the basic pottery techniques and the layout and workings of the studio. If you'd like access to the classes, you will first need to attend a beginner course. If you have previous pottery experience, then don't feel put off by this - the way run our studio means we have access to exceptionally professional tools, techniques and materials, many of them unique to us. You'll likely find our beginner course very useful for extending your existing knowledge as well as having plenty of opportunity for personalising your pieces and getting started on your own projects during the sessions.
What are the firing fees?
Standard sized work: £16 per kilo (up to 20cm wide & 14cm tall) Large sized work: £23 per kilo (up to 30cm wide & 22cm tall) Extra large work: Only by arrangement Minimum fee of £1 per piece Large flatware: +£1 Extra large flatware +£3 Note: flatware takes up a disproportionate amount of room in the kiln, which is why it costs a little extra. The size is defined by how many of an item could fit on a 42cm kiln shelf: If 3 or more could fit, then it is regular and there is no extra fee; if up to 2 could fit then it is large; if only 1 could fit, then it’s extra large.

It has been now over a year since I joined Odile's studio. The studio is spacious, tidy and offers all different kind of tools to work with. There is lots of flexibility regarding the courses and bookings to fit my pottery-making journey. The team is lovely, helpful to any queries and always welcomes us with a smile and a warm cup of tea! Totally recommend it!

Wonderfully dedicated teacher(s) and well-kept studio constantly evolving with new practical solutions to our projects (from unexpected moulds to miniature glazing techniques). A place of creative focus and peace during a stressful week of city life.

Your Teacher

Odile studied chemistry, but fell in love with pottery after trying some evening classes in Farnham. After learning to throw and run a studio by working with other artists, she decided to set up her own space in West London which she runs with her partner Kieran.

Odile now works full time as a potter and pottery teacher. She's invented many of the tools, teaching aids and techniques they use at the studio and is constantly experimenting with new ideas and processes. . She also likes cooking and gardening because she can make the dishes...

I always thought I was rubbish at throwing on an electric wheel, so for two decades I limited myself to handbuilding or buying biscuit to glaze. Odile’s calm guidance and straightforward method gave me the confidence to throw 2 good pieces on the first lesson! At one point it began to feel natural, as if the wheel were an extension of my arms and hands. Of course I also made plenty of mistakes after she left us, but that’s how one learns. Looking forward to the next lesson!

Odile has created a lovely and chilled space for beginners and more advanced potters to learn, explore and have fun. Odile has created a nicely structured beginners class that takes you through various techniques of working with clay and at the end of it you will have plenty of artifacts to be proud of. The following sessions are more independent, with Odile and Kieran being around and assisting you in the design and execution of your idea. Kieran also helps a lot as he is glazing all our work, saving a lot of time for us. The area is always very clean and well lit with a million tools and materials to work with, all meticulously organised and very easy to find. It is my 3rd 6-week session and I will be returning for more the following autumn. Thanks Odile and Kieran!

This is a fantastic, well organised, calm and friendly studio run by brilliant people! Very welcoming and patient with beginners as well as allowing more experienced potters to flourish

The beginner evening pottery classes were really fun! I loved using my hands to create something, it feels so rewarding to see something come to shape out of that lump of clay.

Odile has created an amazing studio with a lovely atmoshere! I am now in my second 6-week course and I have already worked with many different techniques. The team is very helpful through the class to assist with the design and execution of our projects. Also the studio is super well organised. I wouldn't change it and I totally recommend it :)

I am loving the pottery classes with Odile. I started with the 6 week beginners course where we learnt all the basics from our instructor, Kieran. And I am now using the studio to make my own creations, always with Odile and Kieran's support. I didn't think I would enjoy this so much and be able to create such a nice range of objects! I highly recommend!

Really fantastic. I had my first (of 6) class as part of the beginner course last week. It was great and there were 5 other students all spread out and wearing face coverings. The class was really fun and I'm excited for the rest of it!

Odile is an amazing teacher with knowledge on every aspect of pottery and glazing. She enjoys sharing her expertise and is able to explain all processes and techniques in impressive detail. The pottery studio is beautiful and has a relaxing yet focused atmosphere. I would recommend the evening classes for anyone who enjoys experimenting with new techniques but will benefit from getting expert advice when necessary.

I’ve been doing pottery with Odile for two years now and I am addicted! I started in the weekly beginner course and now come each week. Odile is a kind and patient teacher who is very talented and explains things really clearly and simply. She’s really friendly, helpful and approachable. The studio is a wonderful space full of goodies and there are always interesting people to meet; many are now friends outside of class. I’ve made so many things and always look forward to pottery therapy each week! I’m tempted to say it’s not good so I can keep it my little secret...
