Kieran was your teacher the day we went for the course, and what a great teacher he was! Very patient, friendly. He explained in a very clear manner, and had a solution for every little mishap. My daughter and I had a great time! We haven’t picked up our mugs yet, so can’t comment on the work itself, but we just loved the whole experience. We would definitely recommend the course.

I did the mug class and was very excited to make my own unique mug but discovered that it’s made of the same shape so I felt I couldn’t express myself creatively, the mugs have a particular shape and you Just make the handles in a unique way. I think that wasn’t quite clear on the website. But all in all Kieran’s calls was very informative and well structured.

The hand building mug class was a great experience - we were guided along every step to create our mugs and they all looked amazing at the end of the class. The class did go over the 2 hours, so it would be helpful to know in advance it would be 2-3 hours long just so no one had to rush at the end.

I attended the porcelain Christmas decorations workshop with a friend and we had a lovely time. It was relaxed and friendly, and even as complete beginners we were able to make some beautiful decorations. Remember that you will have to wait at least a week for your ceramics to be fired and ready for collection.

This was a really lovely class. Odile showed us the basics of how to roll and shape the porcelain (very straightforward), showed lots of examples of what we could make, and then let us get on with being creative! There are loads of cutters and stamps, and the amount of clay is very generous - I wasn’t able to use all of it, despite making almost 20 decorations, including a mini wreath! The pieces fired beautifully and I’m really pleased with the results. I’d highly recommend this class.

My friend and I did the class with Ciaran and were super lucky as we ended up being the only people in the class! Ciaran was very welcoming and kind, he made us feel so comfortable and at ease. He was super encouraging, warm and friendly and we really appreciated how attentive he was when we asked questions. Ciaran helped us both individually at each step and taught us so much. Because we asked so many questions the class ended up over-running by an hour and it was lovely to see how generous Ciaran was with his time on a Sunday afternoon. Excellent little workshop. 2 hours of zoning out and chilling with clay was so lovely and therapeutic and the bowls came out lovely thanks to Odile- she was kind and patient and always helped out so the bowl looked the best it could. Really really enjoyable experience and will be booking again as it’s so relaxing. I must say my one negative is that I had tried to contact before the session as my partner became unwell and I needed to reschedule and I had no response to emails and phone was constantly off which was frustrating. In the end managed to find a last minute person to come with me so worked out fine.

The teaching was humorous and engaging with many pottery related puns being exchanged to lighten and liven up the mood. Even though my partner and I are 10 minutes late into the class, we managed to catch up with breeze and ease with the effective guidance. Technical tools, processes and their respective purposes, are clearly explained. The class size is great for any popping inquiry to be amply answered. It is a great date idea to pick up a new skill interest on a weekend and create tangible memories with your loved ones. What's more, there will be a piece of handcrafted memorabilia which could be taken home. Highly recommend!

This was a relaxed class - I appreciate that we were not rushed to finish our mug but instead took the time until we were happy with it! Zach is very knowledgeable and helpful :) I think maybe you could encourage beginners to go with simpler handles in the first step, as we were trying crazy shapes but not really knowing what they were for ^^

I attended a 'taster class' in ceramics (made my own cereal bowl). It was the first time I've done anything with clay since I was a teen-ager (nearly 40 years!). My instructor was very attentive, and eager to help me along the process. He patiently helped me through the process, and I am proud of my final product. The studio is also very well set up, and a great place to work. They respect lock-down rules, and give ample space to work safely. I recommend to explore your creative side.

It was a fun class, I learned how to do a mug that looked like a mug in the end, which is amazing. The instructor was professional and very nice, made me feel welcomed and definitely knew what he was doing. The only down side was that I was the only person taking that class that day, which was a bit awkward at times but it wasn't their fault, and I still had a great time.

We had a really enjoyable afternoon doing this class. Odile was thorough in talking us through the materials and tools that we were working with. She did the demonstrations at a pace that was easy to follow. She also paid everyone enough attention so we were assured as to how we were getting on. We learnt different techniques of handling the clay, including how to shape our bowls and make modifications at different stages of making it. There are several colours of glazes that we could choose, and Odile would take our bowls away and glaze and fire them after the class. So we'd get our bowls in the post after a few weeks. As a bonus, it was also quite meditative working on clay, so overall a really nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Thanks again, Odile!

A very enjoyable class that has given me the bug! We used the wheel to make a bowl or two and it was great fun. A lot harder than you think. Odile was very friendly and with only 3 people in the class you get lots of attention! Odile finishes off the bowls and will send to us in 3 weeks, I can't wait to see my creation! I only wish it was longer as time seem to fly!

I took part to the Wheel pottery workshop and I found it absolutely brilliant. Odille is very sweet and she explains everything clearly, breaking down in steps in order to make everything even simpler. I went there with a friend with Asperger Syndrome and Odille has been superb. Herself and her activity is very inclusive for whom has got conditions and hasn't: touching clay and all other materials is very primordial, very therapeutic and everyone can benefit from it. As I suggested he it would be fantastic if she could run a weekly course to enter in depth in the art. Thank you Odille

My partner and I had so much fun centre-ing and throwing on the wheel, making our own breakfast/pasta/salad bowls. We are so excited to see the glazed and fired products in a few weeks' time! Odile is an amazing tutor and an impressive artist and potter. She gave very clear instructions, was incredibly patient, and extremely encouraging. Odile was also fantastic at meeting her students at our different experience levels and making sure that we were all able to achieve our goals for the lesson. We had a such a wonderful time today and will definitely be back for more lessons!

We had such a fun afternoon and despite our intial misgivings that we would make a complete mess, we made two pots that Odile is kindly glazing and posting to us.It was our first time using a pottery wheel, however Odile, with her initial demonstration, made it all seem so simple. She then guided us through the process step by step, giving assistance and encouragement when needed and making the experience throughly enjoyable and positive. Odile is welcoming and friendly and we would definitely recommend her workshop. Both of us would like to go back to have another go!

I absolutely loved this class! The studio is part of a larger shared artists space (Kindred Studios) which is based near Maida Vale and super easy to get to. When I arrived Odile had a cup of tea brewing, and I had a chance to have a look around before the class started. The studio itself is really lovely and bright, and gives such a great insight in to the inner workings of a full time ceramicist. The class started with such an expert demonstration from Odile that I thought I would be picking up the wheel throwing in no time, little did I realise that her skills make it look a lot easier than it is (it's also totally mesmerising to watch)! We then spent some time cutting and shaping our clay into usable pieces ready to start throwing on the wheel. Of course this was my favourite part of the workshop, and after a few failed attempts, and lots of help and patience from Odile, I finally got the hang of it (I think!) and managed to create a bowl that I was incredibly happy with. It's such a great feeling of accomplishment, and I can't wait to see the bowl once it's glazed and fired. Something I didn't know, glazing is basically like a light coat of paint, and Odile gave us choices on the colour - bonus! I left the studio with a big smile on my face and have definitely got the pottery bug. Thank you so much to Odile and Obby for the perfect Sunday - 5 stars!!!

I'm not a complete beginner - can I sign up for classes where I can do my own projects?

Yes - eventually! But every new potter here needs to take the beginner course before they can sign up for regular or advanced classes.

We maintain a very high level of resources & tools available here and all new students need to learn how to use the studio, even if they have done some pottery before. But don't worry! Even experienced potters should find new and interesting things on our beginner course, and there's plenty of room to personalise projects.
