Pottery Workshop

I had an amazing experience! We learned both the wheel and the handmade techniques! Sampada is lovely and such a good and supportive teacher! The studio too has a lovely energy, with a nice view and plants! Thank you, Sampada!

I recently attended this pottery workshop organised by Sampada, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience! From start to finish, the customer service was top-notch, making the entire process seamless and enjoyable. Sampada was incredibly knowledgeable and easygoing, creating a relaxed and supportive atmosphere for everyone. The venue itself was stunning, providing the perfect backdrop for unleashing creativity. The vibes were amazing, and I left feeling inspired and accomplished. I can't recommend this workshop enough to anyone looking to explore their artistic side in a welcoming environment. Loved the wheel throwing experience! Everything was explained in detail and was split into two parts; hand making and wheel throwing. I think my friend and I enjoyed the wheel throwing experience the most as we've had a go at hand making before. Definitely recommend anyone who wants to have a go!

This was the first time my sister and I had experienced any kind of pottery! And we couldn’t have asked for better going to The Slightly Curious Studios. It’s a beautiful studio and easy to locate. Sampada explained things really well and demonstrated clearly. When we began wheel throwing Sampada gently guided us through it and then we had the chance to be independent and seek help should we need it. The vibes were great, background music was calming and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. I would definitely recommend!

A really fun and informative workshop! Excellent for beginners!

My husband and I had THE BEST time here! The 2 hour session went by too fast. Definitely value for money- easy instructions from an experienced artist lets you minimise the stress and maximise the fun. My husband is now a converted potter. Just a heads up that you will have to pay a supplemental fee to get your final products but worth it as the glazing provided gives your creations a perfect finish.

Excellent guidance, good equipment and a well structured class

Excellent session - Sampada was patient and thoughtful in introducing the various techniques - there was plenty of time to play with the materials and find our own path, but enough structure to lead us to tangible results.

Had a really lovely time today with both the hand building and throwing. Relaxed and comfortable atmosphere, Sampada was very informative and friendly.

I didn't enjoy the session at all. While Sampada is very knowledgeable and explained great deal about the process, the actual interaction while learning pottery wasn't great. It was my first time going for a pottery session, hence I am especially disappointed with the experience.

First time using a pottery wheel & Sampada was amazing. She was so patient & attentive with us all. I was gifted an Obby giftcard and was looking through options of what to do when I found this Pottery Class Workshop. I always wanted to try making pottery and especially using the wheel, which this class included. Sampada was great! She was always there to guide and explain different techniques both by hand and on the wheel, and she will even keep your pieces and glaze them for you in the colour of your choice (3 options given) for just £5 a piece. My partner and I had a lot of fun, and it was a really relaxing way to spend a Sunday morning. I'd highly recommend!

I took my best friend here for her birthday so we could do a 3 hour session and learn the basics of ceramics, hand building, and pottery. It was exactly what we were looking for. Sampada is such a sweet soul and a great teacher. The studio is so full of light and had the relaxing, playful ambiance we were looking for, for our first ever class! Thank you so much!!

I came to the workshop as a day out with my teen and was really pleased with the experience. We were shown different methods of creating with the clay and had a go at it all. Something unusual for us and it was a fun day out.

This was my first ever attempt at pottery after wanting to do it for years and Sampada and the Slightly Curious studio did not disappoint! She was incredibly patient and kind and made everything feel much easier. The studio is beautiful too. I even booked into the 5 week wheel throwing course right after! Highly recommended if you're thinking about learning or just want a fun day out :)

I enjoyed the class, beautiful studio space in a lovely location, taught the techniques of hand building and wheel throwing. Step by step we were guided through the process. We had plenty of time to practise and make our own creations. All you need is your imagination. Would highly recommend this class.

Sampada was incredibly attentive to the group and individual needs on the day. She took the time to talk us through techniques, tips and guided us when needed and allowed us to feel both challenged and supported throughout. My wife had a great time and they were even willing to hide some flowers I had bought for Valentines day to bring out at the end of class. Our first and definitely not our last pottery class as a result of such a fun experience!

They let us be as creative as possible, no judgement. And it wasn’t hard to find the studio which was great. Overall, very good experience

I have been wanting to try pottery for the longest time and this was the perfect experience. Everything from the instructor to the atmosphere to the equipment was brilliant. There was support every step of the way and even if you made a mistake there was help to fix it to ensure you still had a piece you can be proud of. The Pottery session was a birthday gift from our daughters to my husband Michael. First time, with crooked arthritic fingers was not sure how it would go, but game. We had difficulty booking online. Sampada was very helpful in sorting our booking. She is a good teacher, clear, precise in her instructions, friendly and relaxed. Good organisation, everything flowed easily. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the studio, which was light and spacious enough for our group of 9. 3 hours flew. Sampada supervised us effortlessly as we beavered at the potter's wheel, and we each came away successfully with 2 nice bowls! It was a most relaxed and enjoyable birthday treat. Thanks Sampada and Beth ( her assistant), would love to come again!

Was a lovely, unique experience! Thought I’d try something different and so glad that I did. The class was very relaxed and the teacher was very charismatic, knowledgeable and helpful. Would have given it 5 stars if we were able to colour the pottery ourselves. But I understand that it’s a long process to reach the end product.

It was so much fun. Sampada is so friendly and nice. My sessions was a beginner and she explained everything so thoroughly for someone who was new to all this. Time went by so fast because I had so much fun. Definitely doing it again when I have the time :)

Very good beginner friendly pottery class! Sampada is a great teacher, she is really good at explaining how pottery works, the processes, techniques and then, we get to some free hand pottery and the wheel too, which is super fun. I've been here with my friends and on a date, i think its a really good experience to have fun or just wind down as it's a very relaxing atmosphere.

Really fun, well presented class. Best value for money based on some similar classes in London. Great experience for couples or groups of friends, or even on your own.

Loved the class! Teacher was really nice and helpful! However I paid for a 3hrs public class and because no one else was there it automatically changed to a 2hr private class. I think its important to make these things clear before the purchase so if the 2hrs for £60 didn't suit me I could go elsewhere. Also parking was a issue. Either way good experience, studio was lovely and I can't wait to receive my glazed products!

I purchased time for both me and my wife as her birthday gift. It was worth every penny! An inspired and fun few hours with an excellent teacher.

Sampada was very good at demonstrating various techniques and guiding the class. A fun class and she allows flexibility for creativity. Would definitely recommend it!

Yesterday I attended my first pottery lesson. It exceeded my expectations. The teacher/artist (Sampada) gave clear and succinct instructions, easy to follow. She also helped me to improve and corrected my hands position. She is very professional and knowledgeable. I would recommend it to everyone. The studio is in an excellent location. She creates a relaxing atmosphere, very clean and tidy. Wonderful background music and lighting of the creative space is just pure delight for your senses. Very charming, large windows looking over the boats on the river canal. I will be back as soon as my schedule allows. A rewarding experience I would have never imagined. I am looking forward to collect my three little pots. If you are a complete beginner like myself do not worry, she is extremely patient and enthusiastic with her students. Working with your hands and clay… understanding the process in great detail, working on the pottery wheel for the first time… it’s so satisfying and enjoyable that I guarantee you, you will leave the studio wanting to come back for more.

Loved this session with Sampada so much! Gorgeous studio with excellent equipment. My 10yo daughter and I did the session together and Sampada did a great job of covering a lot of ground - I can’t understand the review someone has left saying they didn’t have time to finish anything, I had 4 pieces ready to glaze (nothing perfect but that wasn’t the point) and everyone in our session finished something. But the point was to learn the processes, and we did! Thank you Sampada, I’m hooked!

My son (21) and I had a fab time with Sampada learning how to get started with the creation of pottery, both building by hand and using the pottery wheel. I particularly loved the wheel and as we were under no pressure to create something wonderful, we both felt able to just explore and have fun. Thank you Sampada.

Fantastic introduction to pottery and Sampada was amazing. Very clear and articulate instructions and just the right balance of theory and practical work. Will be signing up for a class again!

Class size, location of studio, equipment was all excellent! However, the class didn't touch any clay for over an hour of the 1st hour of the 3 hour class while we listened and watched how to use the clay in hand modelling or on the wheel. When we split into groups and we started with the hand making part, at no point was I told that the item i was making was too large and I wouldn't be able to finished (which I couldn't). Whilst on the wheel, my partner wanted to get on with practising but kept having the instructor coming over and taking over (rather than asking him if he wanted help). We have done a mug building class before in a different studio for less money than this one and we got to keep the mug (they made sure we finished so we could have something to show for it) so I was further more disappointed that nothing of what we made was included in the price of the class. We had to pay £5 for each item we made to keep it. Although the class and the teacher were lovely I'm not sure I would recommend this class - I guess it would depend on what you were after and whether you had done anything similar before.

Thank you to Sampada for a fabulous afternoon. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience. She is an excellent teacher and gave plenty of support as we navigated the potter's wheel and hand assembly of our clay items.

I and 4 girlfiends had a lovely afternoon potting in Sampada's beautiful canalside studio yesterday. We were all beginners and yet with her clear and gentle teaching style we produced some fine work - even if I say so myself ! She has 5 wheels and a large working table and 7 of us worked very comfortably between the two. I will definitely be arranging another session. her

My daughter, son and I attended the Pottery Class led by Sampada, and it was a thoroughly an enjoyable class. We are by no means artistically inclined but we all really enjoyed this class and would definitely come back for another experience.

The class is a good length and you have the chance to make loads of different pieces, some on the wheel and some by hand. We did the 3 hour beginners session and it was fantastic! We got to do some throwing and also hand sculpting, and it felt very relaxed and fun! Sampada was a great teacher; she explained everything really well and was patient with us all when we were using the wheel! Would highly recommend. We now have some new bowls to add to our collection of crockery at home!

Really interactive and fun class. Being able to use the wheel to create some pottery but also create some at the table. You have the option to pay £5 per item to have it painted and to collect in a few weeks time. If you don’t want to keep your items all the clay is recycled!

I really enjoyed this class, Yoko was a great teacher! For me, the best part was learning how to use the wheel, as I'd never done it before. I can't wait to see what my creations look like after glazing!

The pottery class hosted by Sampada was fantastic! As someone who has never been artistic or creative, let alone done pottery, the class was very relaxed with helpful guidance from Sampada. Her teaching style is second to none, where enough information is given without overwhelming you. The 3 hour class is a good length, once you get a hang of the techniques, you have ample time to experiement and have fun.

It was an absolutely fun experience! Sampada was very welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable. 3 hours went so quickly! She managed well to take care of everyone and It was a very enjoyable & peaceful experience. I would recommend it to anyone who interested in pottery. 

A lovely facility, bright, modern and well equipped. A well paced class, with good teaching - and using the wheel really was good fun. Only downside; because of the nature of clay you cannot take your work home with you - it needs to dry out for a couple of weeks. And if you want it painted, by her, then it is an extra charge, but only £5 a piece. Otherwise great.

This is such a brilliant workshop for anyone new to pottery. Sampada is a fantastic leader who strikes a great balance between demonstrating and letting you learn on your own in a really relaxed setting. I created three pieces of pottery and left with a spark to continue with more training.

Sampada was informative and helpful. The class passed by in a flash and we all had turns at hand building and using the pottery wheel. There was a relaxed vibe to the class that helped you feel more confident. I loved it and want to go back!

This class was great fun. You'll get a to try out different pottery techniques. I enjoyed the pottery wheel most, and there are 4 of them, so you get a good amount of time on them.

This was great!!! I had a great time. Sampada made everything really easy and entertaining. And her studio is GORGEOUS. It was a great activity. If anything, I do believe that for the price of the workshop there should be at least glazing and firing included for one piece - maybe offer only one glazing colour, but give everyone the option to take one of their pieces home as something included in the price. Brilliant workshop led by a brilliant teacher. Sampada guided us through various hand building techniques and wheel throwing. We managed to all create small pots and trinkets to take home with us.

I attended this work shop yesterday for my friends birthday. Initially we had this booked prior to the lockdown but my friend was sick. Sampada was very accommodating and allowed us to re schedule. Due to the pandemic our class had to be postponed. As soon as we was allowed to schedule in a date we attended the class. Sampada is an amazing teacher and you can tell she really loves what she does!

I surprised my husband with an introductory pottery class and we both loved it. The instructor Sampada was really great, and we liked the balance between her letting us experiment on our own and guiding us when needed. The class was really relaxing and the bright studio overlooking the canal added to the relaxation factor. I can't wait to make this a joint hobby my husband and I can enjoy together.

We loved our afternoon with Sampada, who was really flexible with the amount of creations we made and great fun, brilliant teacher. Nibbles and prosecco was laid on... All of us seemed to really enjoy it in the small group. As it was Valentines Day we were given gorgeous little gifts too! Couldn't have asked for more.

It could not have been a better experience. The space is inviting and bright and located just beside a beautiful river. The teacher was so helpful and came up with good ideas for us to try. She was super patient even when I got a fair few things wrong and she played chilled music while we worked which gave us a very calming atmosphere to work in. 5 stars and would highly recommend to anyone looking to give pottery a go for the first time!!

Slightly Curious studio is a great place to both learn and practice pottery. We covered both throwing and hand-crafting in this session and I really enjoyed the format of it: she starts off by showing you different techniques and tips as to how to do things, then gives you free reign to try them out and experiment or practice. If you need, she's great at giving you guidance as to how to achieve a specific design if you have one in mind. Overall Slightly Curious is a wonderful and relaxing environment to do pottery in (I should also mention the studio is really aesthetic and has an adorable view on a canal with boats and ducks) and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to try out or practice pottery!

My friend and I went to the pottery workshop yesterday afternoon. It was such a fantastic experience! The teacher was patient and friendly. She had a friendly approach and was helpful with any questions we had. The session was therapeutic and we learnt multiple skills such as hand techniques and wheel throwing. I would definitely recommend The Slightly Curious Studio for pottery classes.

We received a very friendly welcome and were surprised by how much we managed to achieve in the 3-hour class. We had a lot of fun and laughs and got suitably splattered in clay using the wheel so we looked like artists even if our work told a different story!

I attended this class with my sister and niece. We received a really warm welcome by Sampada who then went on to explain everything that we were going to do. There were 6 of us on the course, which was about right (it was a really nice group). Sampada was patient with us all and very encouraging. Overall the course was unexpectedly relaxed and we thoroughly enjoyed it! Will definitely be coming back (especially for the chocolate break!).

The pottery workshop is amazing and definitely worth booking! The groups are kept purposely small which means that you get plenty of advice, attention and guidance. The explanations are clear, easy to follow and visual as Sampada adopts a hands on approach. The learning pace adapts to each person and it is made very clear that we are here to enjoy and relax. She has this very communicative positive, energetic attitude which keeps the workshop light and fun. The venue is also great, it is bright, spacious and comfortable. I can't recommend this experience enough!

Excellent class with a brilliant instructor! To be honest I booked this as a treat for my girlfriend and didn't expect to enjoy it, but I really found the whole experience from start to finish to be a really interesting and laid back experience, it's very calming creative and the three hours flys by. I'd book again 100% Instructor was chilled and relaxed and made it feel fun rather than stressful, definetely added a personal touch into the experience that made it much more enjoyable and welcoming. Also free twix bars and music! Great fun. :)

Hello :-) We had a great afternoon on the pottery workshop. This was a birthday surprise for my partner and Sampada played the surprise until the very end so that was appreciated. The class was good fun, straight to the essentials of pottery practice, without too much competition or making it too serious. It was relaxing and we also enjoyed nice conversation.

Sampada was a wonderful teacher, and the class felt welcoming and intimate. The studio overlooks the canal and feels like a rare find in NW London! Would highly recommend.

I attended the pottery lesson. Sammi is a very helpful teacher and freindly. She is very knowledgeable and guided me through each stages of pottery, while making the class fun and enjoyable.

I personally wasn't sure what to expect from the class when I signed up to it with couple of my friends. But ended up having the best time and also learnt a lot. Sampada was a great teacher, being able to accommodate a mixed group of varying skill levels. She was able to make the session very informative yet extremely fun. I would definitely do this again and highly recommend this course!

The teacher was informative and friendly. Sampada teaches us all the basic pottery techniques and let us explore with our creative minds. Overall I will rate in 5/5. Will definitely come again. The workshop is overseeing the cannel and the studio is flooded with natural light. Perfect for a chill and relax creative studio vibe.

I really enjoyed our pottery lesson and will deginately go back again. Our teacher was lovely, incredibly informative and a very good practical teacher. We all managed to make bowls on the wheel, largely due to her excellent teaching skills. The venue was great - very well laid out for everyone working - there was lots of tools and examples of other work available and it was near to a train station and buses and the directions for getting to the venue were also excellent.

What a great workshop, a perfect introduction into hand built and thrown pottery technique with exactly the right balance of instruction and hands on experience. The 'canal-side' studio is beautiful and Sampada is an excellent host and a pleasure to spend time with. I'd really recommend this workshop as an introduction to pottery or simply a great escape from your day to day.

The workshop was a super cool space. Really intimate class which gave everyone the best potential for learning and one to one teaching. My friend and I had loads of time on the wheel and also plenty of time hand making our different models, we even ran over the class time so that we could finish, there was no rush or worry. The teacher had a clear passion for pottery which came through, it was a lovely experience and I will 100% be booking it again.

I have been to pottery/wheel throwing class and made it for a follow up glazing class. The class activities fit the description on Obby. The class was relaxed, we listened to some music and even managed to have some tea & biscuits. The teacher, Sampada, is a really easy person to talk to. She walked me through all techniques, was always knowledgable when I had no idea how to continue. The wheel throwing was probably my most favourite part! The studio is neat and filled with Sampada’s artwork. First-timers in the area, make sure you have some extra time for you arrival - the entrance is little hidden and it took me some time to find it! :-)

I had a fab time at The Slightly Curious Studio! Pottery is something I’ve never done before and was a little nervous. Sampada made me feel much more confident, the studio has a very relaxed atmosphere with no pressure to learn too quickly. She also makes sure everyone has something to show for their time too. With ample time to try the wheel and hand building the class gives an overall view of pottery and I really enjoyed using the wheel which I thought would be the hardest. With gentle guidance and helpful hints I loved everything I made and have 3 pieces to remember the day by. Highly recommend and will be back!

Sampada’s ceramics workshop was insightful, relaxing and above all fun. The small group ensured that Sampada was able to provide tailored teaching to each student and coach them them in how to progress in various aspects of ceramics. Sampada’s class demonstrated multiple techniques used in hand modelling of clay to produce creative and organic structures as well as the use of the potters wheel for more symmetrical shapes. I would certainly recommend Sampada’s workshop to anyone who is wanting to learn more about ceramics or just wanting a flavour of it.
