What you will do
2 hour workshop
The experience has been studied with the aim of involving people as much as we can in the Gelato Making Process. This is a proper experience rather than just a tasting or a cooking class.
After an introduction about the schools background and few secrets about their recipes, they will provide you aprons, gloves and recipes book.
You will learn everything about the original ‘gelato bolognese’.
The gelato experience is available for all ages you just need to be a gelato lover.
The experience includes 3 stages:
Blends preparation: you'll taste their signature gelato flavours then you'll choose which ones you'd like to produce. Your techer will follow you in the process, explaining how to balance different ingredients, but you'll have the gelato Recipe Book and will be blending yourself.
Gelato "Mantecazione": you'll assist on the Gelato making process and your teacher will teach you how to understand when the Gelato is ready to be extracted from the machine, then you'll extract it yourself! All the guests will taste the Gelato flavour just produced.
Gelato cake preparation and decoration: Gelato degustation for the guests to choose 2 flavours - the Chefs will teach you how to produce a Gelato cake and you'll produce your own one! After the cake production, toppings and tools will be provided to decorate the cake your way. The cake will be a gift for you to take home.

About your host, Unico Gelato & Caffè
Elena Manfroni has a long 60-year family history in the gelato business. She is the daughter of one of the owners of Carpigiani, the world’s largest producer of gelato machines. A lover of ice cream since early childhood, Elena watched her father sketch machine designs and soon inherited his passion for gelato tradition.Eng. Ezio Augusto Manfroni (Elena’s father), also known as the Patent Genius, committed his entire life to creating a better world for children and for adults too.
In 2012 Cremeria Funivia founder, Leonardo Ragazzi met Gianluca Vitali and Elena Manfroni, two renowned Bolognese entrepreneurs. Leonardo, Elena and Gianluca soon become inseparable as they all share a passion for Gelato and for quality food.
In 2015 Unico launched their first UK site in the South East borough of Bromley – where gelato and coffee were on offer. Ultimately homemade cakes were introduced. The year also saw Gianluca’s son and three friends join the team to assist with brand identity and marketing communications.
2017 saw the launch of Unico’s second site in the bustling area of Notting Hill in West London. Both sites also launched their new vegan and pastry range. Unico totally re-branded their corporate style with new graphic and interior design.
Early 2018 will see the launch of three further Unico stores in Holland Park, Fulham and St John’s Wood. All sites will offer gelato, coffee, cakes and pastries.
Please let us know any dietary requirements in advance. Also, please let us know how long you will travel after the experience, just to make sure the cake will not melt on your way back!
All students under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
