Wood Burning Workshop, London

A really warm, fun and friendly workshop. This was a great experience to share with friends and family.

I throughly enjoyed this pyrography class. I was made to feel very welcome. Manila was very generous with her knowledge and guided us through the process. It was relaxing and fun and I felt I had learnt a lot. I would highly recommend this class.

It was a great session. If here was something to improve it would be that Maika could put more emphasis on skills and techniques in the introuduction but if any of us in the group had a question she was there to help and was very encouraging

LOVED this class! Maika was so welcoming and friendly, and the class was set in a wonderful arty relaxed environment. There was plenty of time both to practise and to make 2 or 3 wooden art pieces. She demonstrated lots of techniques and tips, and I left feeling inspired to do more pyrography :)

Great workshop. Learnt alot and was able to work in a very relaxed environment with a great patient teacher.

I would definitely recommend this class to anyone. I'm not artistic at all but still managed to create pieces that I will treasure. It is also surprisingly meditative.

Simply fantastic! Beautiful and super creative lesson. Maika is kind and helpful with everyone! You can choose whether to decorate a spoon, box or circle to hang. Time is more than enough to decorate one of these! Nice atmosphere!

Very clear instructions and lots of different options and ideas so you could really be creative even while getting to grips with the basics. Lots of tips for how to carry on the hobby at home after the class too!

Loved this workshop and would highly recommend - I felt I learned so much from Maika and she was really sweet and helpful! She also had a very good range of items to personalise - my family loved their presents! Thank you Maika.

Maika was brilliant. She explained everything really well, was friendly, approachable and helpful. We were a small group of 5 people and it was such a lovely calm Sunday evening activity with friends. It's also really nice to be able to grab some food in Brixton village pre or post workshop. All in all, a really lovely experience that I'd recommend to others.

110% recommend going to Malika’s wood burning workshop. It was such a fun evening. 2 hours went by in an instant. Maika was fantastic and made this new skill for everyone there super easy to pick up and enjoy. You’ll be surprised at what you can create and it’s great to see what everyone else has made at the end too. Really fun and enjoyable, you’d be silly not to go.

What a lovely, fun and different way to spend an evening! I had already ordered a couple of personalised Christmas decorations last year, and I'm so glad to have given it a go myself this year. Maika explained the technique clearly, and checked in on us throughout. She also had some pictures for us to use as inspiration. It was great to have 3 items to take home with us! Overall, a really great workshop and I'd recommend it to anyone looking to be creative, try something different, and who wants to create a lovely personalised item for their home or for a friend or loved one.

A great evening learning to be creative in a new way and loved being able to take home a few creations at the end of it. Well organised class in a cool location in the middle of the market area.

Maika was an excellent teacher! She took time to explain and show us how to burn the wood with lots of helpful examples. She has a lovely style which is both casual and informative. We were given all the material we needed and we got to choose from some items (spoons, wooden shapes) to burn into. Maika also gave us some booklets with sketches in for inspiration. Overall the class was great and we would definitely recommend it!

I attended a wood burning workshop at the end of last year. I absolutely loved it and came away with some super cute coasters and a spoon with my name on it! It’s such a great evening activity and I’d suggest it to anyone who is looking for something slightly different and fun to do in the evenings and weekends. Loved it.

It was great fun trying out wood burning for the first time and it was a perfect location in lively Brixton village. Maika is an excellent teacher and explained everything clearly. It was fantastic to be able to came home with my own decorated spoon, keyring and coaster.

This was my first experience of wood burning and Maika was great - she was really organised and explained things clearly. She was extremely patient and helpful, which made us all feel relaxed and the whole evening more enjoyable. Would definitely recommend!

I booked Maika's workshop for me and my friends as a birthday surprise. Something a bit different to your normal birthday party and I'm so glad I did it! Maika is lovely and was great at explaining how to use the tools and techniques. We were able to make quite a few different designs in the 2 hour time frame as you can pick it up quite quickly. The venue was great also, surrounded by the vibrant Brixton village atmosphere so food and drink were easily accessible and abundant for afterwards. Would 100% recommend.

Great workshop! Loved learning how to use the pyrography pens and design a few pieces. Maike made the workshop really interesting and was very helpful in showing us a range of techniques and giving us tips on how to create the wood burning pieces.

Turned out to be the perfect birthday gift for my mum and I to release our creative flare with help and thanks to Maika with interesting materials, easy to use equipment and a supportive atmosphere created by Maika herself.

Incredibly informative and friendly, such a brilliant class will definitely be coming again and be recommending to friends.

Really enjoyable learning a new skill in a fun and supportive environment. I'm not the most arty but found pyrography to be a very mindful activity. Definitely would recommend!

I wasn't too sure what to expect when I was invited along by a friend but I was pleasantly surprised to find it was an incredible night and I had SUCH a good time. It's in a great location in Brixton market and Maika was very welcoming and friendly. I loved that we could take home the things we made that evening and there wasn't any pressure (great for someone who's not creative). I would highly recommend this workshop as a great way to spend an evening with friends or even by yourself, with only 6 places on the workshop its personal and social.

The wood burning workshop with Maika was such a great way to spend an evening! Maika created a welcoming and fun atmosphere and was an encouraging and warm teacher. From absolute beginner Maika provided guidance and inspiration and it was wonderful to walk away with 3 items I was proud to have made. The studio was lovely and the location was perfect for getting dinner before and a drink after - highly recommend!

I loved the workshop and haven't stopped telling everyone about it. Maika was lovely, supporting and guiding us when needed and then leaving us to it was perfect. It was very peaceful and enjoyable and the 2 hours flew by! The space was lovely too, intimate workshop with a really nice atmosphere. The best thing is, you get to take home something you're proud of making to show off to every person you know.

Such a great experience! Maika was a wonderful teacher (she's so lovely!), her talent in Pyrography is so impressive and it was really interesting learning how to draw with fire! Being able to come home with three items that you've made in the two hours was really great. I loved the location of the workshop, Studio 73 in Brixton village, as you are right in the mix of buzzy night life but getting to do something fun and creative at the same time. Was the perfect evening after work and the timings are ideal (7pm-9pm) for some dinner and a drink before or/ and a drink after! Thank you Studio 73 and MadeByMaika :)

This class was a great opportunity to hang out with friends and try something new, and in Brixton which was super convenient for food and a beer after. Maika was great at showing us the ropes of wood burning and how to create some cool effects. I came away with some jazzy personalised spoons and a key ring. I'd definitely reccomend this class to anyone (creative or otherwise)

I came in as a complete beginner to wood burning and had a brilliant time. I brought a friend for her birthday and we both thoroughly enjoyed it, she said it was a great present. Maika was lovely, patient, great at explaining everything and offered loads of creative inspiration. We came away with some lovely made items after having a good practise. I'd definitely come again! This workshop is excellent! I would recommend this to all ages and to all abilities. Maika is a great teacher, very professional yet so friendly and kind. It’s a ‘must do’ for a fun activity on a week day!

The class with Maika is a fantastic introductory to wood burning! Maika is really talented and on hand to help with what you’re looking to create with your own designs. It was great to start by testing the pyography pen and getting to grips with the technique!! The workshop is perfect to get creative, to switch off, and create something amazing and unique to take home! Thanks Maika!

It was really fun learning the techniques for wood burning. It isn't something I had heard of before so was really intrigued by it. Maika was really nice and supportive throughout the class. I'm not very arty but by the end of it I was really proud of what I had created. I would defintely recommend this class if you are looking for something different and unique.

Having never done wood burning before I arrived not knowing what to expect - but Maika was so welcoming and friendly, explained really clearly the technique and showed us some examples. It was a small group, which was great as it meant you could chat to everyone and Maika was always on hand to help. I really enjoyed the session - not quite up to Maika's standards but it was so much fun, definitely recommend to anyone!

Teacher was organised and supplied great materials for practising and that we could keep. Really great to try a new creative skill and workshop that I haven't tried before, loved this class will definitely be back

Maika's course is absolutely fantastic and it makes for a exciting evening with friends or if you want to attend on your own. From learning about word burning techniques, to then applying it across all the materials was amazing and i cannot recommend it highly enough. I'm not the most artistic, but Maika makes you feel super comfortable and spends great time teaching you everything that you need to know. Coming away with my own personally designed spoons and coasters is also pretty cool. For anyone who is wanting to give this a go, i would say BOOK IT!!! It is a fun evening out and many laughs were had by all.
