What you will do
20 hour class
This a very intensive day of making , equivalent to a 3 weeks (2.5h/session) workshop this class is designed for any recent clay makers wishing to learn in a straight forward way in order to develop your skill independently. Ideal for those who like to practise and expand on their hand-building and decorating skills.
You are encouraged to come with ideas and projects you would like to work on over the full day. You will be fully supported in making through group demonstrations of different techniques, one-to-one guidance and handouts, encouraging you to experiment with different clays and processes to develop and refine your ceramic skills. During this course you will be introduced to a range of techniques, including:
- decorating with colour slips
- slab building geometric forms
- coil building techniques
- use an extruder to combine different techniques -press mould shapes from a plaster mould +In bonus we will introduce you to a small slip casting tester!
We will glaze your pieces for you and they will be ready to be collected within 2-3 weeks, if you cannot collect them we can post them for £7 anywhere in the UK.

The Ceramicists is a highly skilled ceramic studio run by Stephanie and Kevin from Central Saint Martins and the Royal College of Arts. Since 2014 , they have been working on unique projects with Architects, designers, artists, galleries and restaurants...
Their versatile workshops can take your experience further, e.g they can help if you wish to small batch produce your items with plaster mould making workshops, create unique glazes or commission them to create a one off gift!
Please bring a sketchbook and any reference materials describing if you have anything you wish to make. Please make sure to have your nails trimmed prior the class. -Aprons will be provided -Light lunch provided! (cheese board toast and hot drinks)
