16. Hand-building Weekend - Two Day Workshop - Saturday & Sunday
Hello Potential Potters! We are really looking forward to your Hand Building two day workshop at Crown Works Pottery. The classes will be taught by potter Olivia Fiddes. Each class begins at 11:00 and runs until 17:00, but with packing up, you will most likely be done by 17:15. Olivia will introduce you to a variety of different hand building techniques and you will make an array of forms, from cups, bowls and possibly some vases. You will learn about coil building, slab work and applying texture to your work. We will bisque fire (first firing process in the kiln) your work for you once it has completely dried out after your final class, we will then glaze your work for you in a tin white glaze and put it through its second and highest firing. The studio is located at: 11 Crown Works Temple Street Hackney E2 6QQ We are half way down Temple Street and within a gated mews called Crown Works. It can be hard to see the black gated entrance, so if you have any problems finding us, please give Olivia a call on: 07875932837 When you find the gates, please dial 11 and then press the bell button on the keypad, this will ring through to the studio and Olivia can buzz you in. The nearest tube is Bethnal Green and the nearest overland is Cambridge Heath, there are also lots of buses, which may be worth checking out depending where you are coming from. All materials and tools will be provided and you will be provided with aprons, but you are still likely to get a bit messy, so please try to avoid wearing your favourite clothes. Shoes wise, it’s best to wear covered toes and again not your best ones! Having said this, all the clay does wash off, so don’t worry too much. We will then arrange a time where you can come and pick up your final pieces once they have gone through the glaze firing process, typically three weeks or so after your last class but it can take longer. Any questions drop me an email, see you very soon! All my best Giulietta (Getta)
