10. Still Life Drawing
The session aims to offer a new way of interpreting and re-energising the traditional medium of still life. By creating colourful, sassy and dynamic still lives (no dead fruit or skulls here) Alice creates beautiful shapes, colours and subject matter to help you gain confidence in drawing and enjoy the process of mark making. The class is appropriate for all skill sets, whether you’re a master mark maker or a complete beginner. Included in ticket price Materials to use on the day, including watercolour paints, ink, a range of pastels, pens, pencils and charcoal. You will also be given a kit of materials to take away, including pencils, erasers, charcoal, and hand illustrated worksheets to help you continue drawing at home. Entrance to Cass Sculpture Foundation on the day of the event, tea, coffee and biscuits. To bring with you on the day: Feel free to bring any materials of your own you would like to use. Indian Ink will be available, so you may wish to bring an overall or wear suitable clothing. About the workshop leader: The Mark Makers is a London based pop up drawing workshop, run by freelance illustrator and designer Alice Nyong. Alice started the workshops in early 2016 with an aim to bring lots of the creative things that she loved together in one place. Fun and non - stuffy, the Mark Makers is about having some time to yourself, to be creative and expressive with no pressure from others or yourself.

12. Drawn Chorus: Life Drawing Sessions in Person
A meditative 2 hours of experimentation and fun, helping you gain confidence in how to approach figurative drawing. For this special in person session we're excited to welcome portrait painter and artist Isabel Douglas-Hamilton who will help you on your way! Isabel's teaching will help you hone your observational skills and establish correct proportions in figure drawing with the use of classical drawing techniques. The class will start with Isabel demonstrating how to make simple gestural line drawings and we'll also put this to practice, loosening up and getting our eye in with short poses. Isabel will then do a more detailed demonstration to show how she approaches the figures including some useful ways of measuring basic proportions. Never joined a life drawing session before? Not confident with drawing yet…here is your chance to practice and improve with no judgement! Everyone is welcome, just pick up your pencil or any material lying around and start exploring! Meet your hosts Isabel Douglas Hamilton is a Scottish portrait artist based in London. She trained at the Stieglitz Academy in St. Petersburg, followed by Grand Central Atelier in New York. She currently takes portrait commissions from her studio in Battersea. Sasha Galitzine is a curator & producer who specialises in commissioning site-specific art work & performance with and for communities. She has been leading these life drawing sessions since the start of the first lockdown, giving some useful tips and pointers. It's a chance to relax, focus, experiment, practice and be amongst supportive and encouraging community of artists of all abilities.
