Successful patchworking and quilting is part knowing what to do, and part practice. Come along as and when you have a question, need help, want some time out to actually get some patchworking done, or want to have a go at a new technique. Each session will have a demonstration at the beginning and then you can practice that technique or seek help with your own project as needed. The club will run on Tuesday afternoons during term time. We welcome those who already have basic patchwork knowledge and have mastered some blocks but are having specific problems or want to progress and learn how to become more accurate, or some tips and tricks to get things done with less effort. Perhaps you've seen something you'd like to have a go at but are not sure what technique is used. Come along! We run small group classes with a maximum of 6 students so you can get the most out of our expert tuition, and a sewing machine to yourself. CRAFT CULT is your monthly creative social that is good for your soul and your craft. An easy peasy chill and friendly couple of hours to connect with like minded makers and shakers over some crafts. A wonderful introduction to get to know the studio and its favourite people over a chinwag and at the same time, get a little closer to finishing the WIP. If you are a beginner or feeling a bit rusty we will give you a basic introduction to using a sewing machine to enable you to sew a seam and top stitch to neatly finish off. There will be a selection of fabrics and bits and bobs for you to work with, but if you have a special garment, baby sheet or other fabric you would like to upcycle into a special item, bring it along. We will discuss the best way to work with your fabric and how to make your stocking unique and special to you. You can decorate your stocking or sack, for example appliqué a letter or patch a selection of fabrics together. The workshop is held in our dedicated Stitch Studio where you will have access to all sorts of bits and bobs to embellish your work. Sam will be on hand throughout to guide and troubleshoot with you to ensure that you have the confidence to create the best christmas stocking or sack while building your sewing and making skills.

This one-to-one course is for people who've carved spoons from wood before, a few or many. Both student and tutor will bring along spoons for show and tell. Whether you struggle making a crank in your spoons, want to improve your knife finish, practice your axe technique to make better spoon blanks, try making scoops and ladles, or just want to stop making spoons that all look the same, this course will help you get there. We'll help you to develop your designs and technique. You'll carve an individual projects, tailored to help with your specific spoon dilemmas. We'll talk spoons all day long and then some more. Tools and wood are provided, but if you have your own tools please bring them along too. We'll advise on buying tools and if you're thinking of buying your own you can try out a range of axes and crook knives at our workshop.
