In 2014 e5 began running workshops for female refugees. An unexpected part of the course has been our learning about traditional breads from other parts of the world, for example the Turcoman flatbread. They began serving this, along with middle eastern mezze dishes at pop up events employing the refugee team. This has evolved into the new e5 roasthouse; a cafe and coffee roastery at Poplar Union.
Here they bake hundreds of flatbreads a week in a pizza oven, supplying a stall at Borough Market and to serve with our mezze menu.
