I had been looking forward to this workshop for months, and was not disappointed! I knew about the various ways of building with metal, but really wanted to get hands on experience with them, and the project in this workshop covered them nicely - measuring, marking, punching, cutting, folding, riveting, and spot welding. I now have a better understanding of the time and effort involved in working with metal. I have my own project in mind and have been considering whether to do it myself or hire an established manufacturer. I now have a better perspective with which to make that decision. Andrew, who led the workshop, was very helpful and encouraging throughout the day. I was really pleased with the metal toolbox I made and took home. Thank you Andrew!

Great intro to metalworking with sheet metal. Learnt to use metal marking and cutting tools and larger machines for easy trimming and bending. The fun ones for me are the spot welder, and the riveter. The teacher Andrew helped to sort out any mistakes and made sure we all finished our toolbox (I might paint mine :).

This course was excellent. The task - making a toolbox for our newly-familiar metal hand tools - involved the following skills: reading a drawing, measuring, cutting, folding, working, drilling, riveting, and spot welding. I followed it up immediately with another course to grow my confidence and familiarity with the workshop and its machinery, which worked well for me. Mine was not the most elegant toolbox that came out of the workshop, but I like the evidence of my learning it displays! Strong recommend for anyone who wants to build their skills, confidence and familiarity, ahead of freestyling their own creations.

A great one-day foundation workshop/class in metal fabrication; involving cutting, bending, drilling/punching, spot welding/pop riveting; to make a useful steel tool carrier. Mine wasn't the prettiest made that day, but it works and I learnt loads about metalworking and the value of material choice, workflow and prototyping. The instructor: Andy, was friendly, extremely knowledgeable and helped me and the other students get the most out of the day.

I had a fabulous day. Andy was brilliant, patient and I learnt loads. I can't wait to return for more.

It was a great workshop. Not too many people so it was a safe space during this time. Andrew was very helpful explaining what the typical tools are and the equipment was and how it can be used. He was on hand to help out with any problems and running us through the steps in general. Very friendly and I love being able to get into making something physical by hand! Very highly recommended!
