What happens in this class?

Come create your own fireside cooking utensils to make some tasty outdoor snacks. This half-day workshop is a perfect introduction for children & adults alike to learn how to use whittling knives safely and effectively. Ideal for families who want to practise woodcraft at home, on camping trips or out in the woods!

Together as a pair, each parent/adult and child will use traditional green woodworking tools to whittle and decorate your very own marshmallow-toasting fork (with rigorous product testing to follow!) and carve a butter spreader – again, the finished product will be put to the test by…

Things to remember

All tools and materials will be provided, as well as teas, coffees, apple juice and biscuits aplenty to keep our engines ticking over.

We will work in the beautiful roundwood timber-framed barn at Grow Wilder, encircled by fields and meadows.

Bristol Tree Craft C.I.C brings people living in Bristol together to learn the traditional heritage craft of green woodworking. Greenwood working uses unseasoned "green" wood, that has been freshly felled, this is then shaped with hand tools into finished items.
