Lost wax carving is one of the skills used in the process of jewellery making. This workshop introduces the tools needed for the process, how to prepare and carve out your design, clean up the finished wax, and get it cast in silver. The casting is not done on-site, therefore the final piece which has been cast in silver will be ready in 7 days when you will return to clean up and polish your silver ring. If you are unable to come back to finish your ring, we can clean it up for you and sent it to you by post. This workshop can be attended as a group, a couple or as an individual. vouchers can also be purchased for this workshop as a gift to a loved one. We have ready-made designs to work with, but please let me know when you book the workshop if you already have a design in mind. The cost of casting is included in the price.

This session covers basic silversmith skills and jewellery making techniques including hammering, texturing, shaping, soldering and finishing. We spend the first part of the session working with copper to allow you to become confident with the tools and allow you to hone your new skills, before moving onto silver to create a bangle for you to take away. Copper for the creation of one bangle and silver for one bangle are included in the price. Additional silver is available for purchase on the day if required. Classes are limited to a maximum of 8 to ensure everyone gets the support they need. Attendees under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. You need to be confident that they will be able to use the tools (including blowtorch) involved. Unlimited cups of tea and biscuits will be available throughout the session. Masks and gloves will also be provided on request.
