In this direct casting method, molten metal directly fills a design carved/imprinted into the surface of a cuttlebone. Producing a finished three-dimensional cast object - in this case a signet ring. Things to remember

Each student will be provided with an apron, though we ask you to please wear suitable non- loose clothing (as you would for any other semi-messy art form). For health and safety we also recommend close toed shoes.

Can I cast my ring in solid gold?

Yes, the most cost effective way to cast your ring in solid gold is to create it in silver and then on the day of the class we would weigh your silver ring and quote you for it in solid gold by creating a mould and lost wax casting it. We have done some 9ct signets recently and were coming out around £300

Can I make more than one signet ring?

Yes you can take home any additional rings you make in class for £75 per ring

What a fantastic experience from start to finish! Thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the expertise from the talented ladies leading the session. A truly fascinating insight into the process of silversmithing and in a traditional cuttlefish mold process. We both thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and whilst we are still awaiting our final product (we decided to engrave and have stone additions), it’s something we mention quite frequently to friends and we simply cannot wait to get our final products!
