Suzu House was an amazing experience! My girlfriend and I took a sushi making class which was a lot of fun! We got to see the master at work and being a Brit, I was quite amazed at how my sushi turned out! Since then I've made sushi at home and not only have a saved money, but now we can spice it up a bit with our weekly meals. I would love to go back for a top up course to learn more!

Makiko is a great teacher and I have now attended a few of her classes. Sushi making is a great choice for a date night and you will go away having eaten well and with a little confidence to try the techniques at home to impress your friends!

I attended the beginners sushi class. Makiko was a brilliant teacher-knowledgable and fun. It was a practical class that allowed us to learn the basics, make mistakes and improve our skills. Well worth the money! I will be booking in for dumplings soon!

thank you so much for the class - it was great value, really interesting and informative. I have been to a few cooking classes before where (apart from them being a nice evening) I have not really learnt anything - this was not the case with you! To add to the great class I came away with an amazing new recipe book full of not just great dishes but also tips and snippets of Japanese culture! Thanks, Charlie and DeeDee

I attended Makiko’s Sushi master class and it was a fantastic experience. Makiko has great teaching skills and she is warm, patient , well organised, explaining in great detail all the steps we had to go through. All the ingredients were very high quality and the sushi we made was delicious . We learned a lot about the Japanese cuisine and culture. It was a lovely, relaxed atmosphere and everybody was enjoying the class. I warmly recommend this class to everyone! Thank you , Makiko.

A friend of mine booked us onto the Makiko Sano Cooking School sushi class as a surprise, and we both had a great time. Makiko has a wealth of knowledge, and is extremely passionate about teaching people the etiquette of Japanese culture and cuisine. Whether you enjoy cooking or are a complete novice, Makiko takes the time to instruct everyone in the class in a clear and informative way, and is always happy to answer any questions that anyone may have. Although the aim of the class is for you to leave with the confidence to have a go at making your own sushi at home; whether you do or not, you can be sure that you will have spent an entertaining and enjoyable few hours under Makiko’s friendly and professional tuition.

We had such a wonderful time learning to make sushi with Makiko. She is really clear and informative, we learned so much! It was lovely to hear her stories along the way too. The ingredients were of very high quality and the taste was amazing. None of our sushi made it home as we couldn’t resist eating it during the class!

I went along to Makiko Sano cookery school with my husband and four children, the youngest five years old. We all learnt to make four different types of sushi, about Japanese culture towards food and even how to hold chopsticks properly. The class was very informative and relaxed and felt we could ask questions or call out for extra help which was given without making you feel silly. A lot of extra help was also given to my youngest son so I was able to get on with my own making. We all enjoyed this experience and it was a great way of spending quality time with my family and also learning a new skill that we could develop at home. Makiko was very friendly but precise in her teachings and and because she made us all feel integrated within the group we even managed to have a little laugh with the other “students” The venue looked very clean and I could see as Makiko was teaching she was also keeping things clean and tidy. I would definitely recommend taking a class and look forward to trying a different class with Makiko.

Was a great class. Really clear directions and explanation of Japanese etiquette. Was great fun learning about the different sushi we made and I can now use chopsticks correctly at last.
