6 hour class
The class is hosted by Oliver Tebbutt and Charl Heynike in our London workshop, where we run our company: Dovedale design studio.
It is a workshop running over two days where you will learn the basics of woodworking and make your own small jewellery box to take home. We welcome total beginners as well as more experienced woodworkers, to come along, create something beautiful, eat lots of cake and make new friends.
Over the two days, you will learn some essential health and safety skills, learn how to use and maintain various hand and power tools, learn some beginner jewellery box joinery and come away with your box, and new confidence in woodworking!

About your host, Dovedale Design Studio
Dovedale design studio is a London based luxury design company specialising in the small-scale limited edition production of handmade wooden items. The ethos of the company was a return to local, handmade products, designed and made in London using materials sourced from the UK in collaboration with other local craftsmen. They design and make all their products in their Surrey Quays workshop, and are opening their doors to begin teaching short courses in woodworking. The course on offer will be an introduction to basic woodworking and joinery, culminating in the students making their own jewellery ring/earring box to take home. An ideal gift for a loved one or to yourself, the beautifully crafted box gives an opportunity to learn some beginner woodworking techniques and spend an enjoyable couple of days with an insight into life in a wood workshop.
You should wear old clothes suitable for a workshop, as well as strong comfy footwear as you will spend much of the time on your feet. We will provide tea, coffee, and cake, but advise you to bring your own lunch as the local cafe has a limited selection. We can provide all the tools and materials you will need, although you are welcome to bring your own tools if you like. The course is run at a relaxed pace, although you will be on your feet all day, so be aware this can be surprisingly tiring if you are not used to it.
