Learn about the history of kombucha and how to brew your own, including 1st and 2nd ferment, bottling and storage. Also learn my top tips for safely opening fizzy bottles.

You'll receive a tried and tested recipe to keep along with a flavour grid to help provide some inspiration for those 2nd ferments.

As well, you'll be given my troubleshooting guide, complied based on over five years' experience of making and teaching others how to make kombucha.

What you will learn
  • How to brew your own kombucha from scratch.
  • How to troubleshoot any issues with you kombucha.
  • How to flavour, bottle and store your kombucha.
What you will need
  • 1 Kombucha SCOBY + 250 ml kombucha starter
  • 150g golden caster sugar
  • 5 black or green tea bags (or 2tbsp loose leaf)
FAQs
I don't have a SCOBY.
One can be provided for you for the cost of P+P. These will be mailed out on the Wednesday before the workshop. Email contact@nenafosterfood.com to have one posted.
Can I use herbal tea?
No, please use either black or green tea, loose leaf is fine, but you will need a sieve to strain.

Your Teacher

Nena is a trained Natural Chef (College of Naturopathic Medicine), specialising in whole, unprocessed and plant-based food. She works as a freelance chef, cookery and fermentation teacher, teaching both children and adults. She also develops recipes for brands and other chefs, as well as, she works as a food stylist for magazines, cookbooks and newspapers.

She caught the fermenting bug during her chef training and since has enjoyed experimenting and sharing her passion with others.
