    What you'll learn

    Join this half-term class and learn how to create wonderful and delicious sushi art, accompanied with Japanese tea. This class is a great way to spend an afternoon with your child in a hands-on, fun and creative environment that will have you rushing back for more!

    In this class

    Students will make the savoury part of the sushi, consisting of 2 to 3 different types. These will include small 'temari' sushi balls.

    After this alice will show you how to present your sushi with an artistic flair, which will be enjoyed with a cup or 2 of Japanese tea. There will also be a selection of home-made matcha truffles, yuzu or sweet red bean paste dorayaki, cherry blossom cake and many more!

    You will have a choice of Japanese teas including:

    • Matcha
    • 'popcorn tea'
    • hoji cha
    • cherry blossom
    • sencha
    • jasmine

    Now you can

    • Try making some of these fabulous creations at home
    • Experiment with your sushi art, using the techniques learnt during the class
    • Show others what you have learnt and pass on your skills to them

    Did you know?

    Making real maki sushi (sushi rolls) is considered an art form in Japan. The sushi masters choose the ingredients so that the tastes, textures and colours all complement each other. The rolls are served sliced so that customers are able to see that artistic work inside.

    About your host, Alice Sushi Art

    Having lived in Japan for two years, Alice developed a keen interest in Japanese food and culture, especially sushi and origami. After covering the basics in Japan, Alice continued to practice sushi and origami making back in the UK.

    Alice puts a strong focus on creativity, experimentation and having fun. In Alice’s sushi classes, you can experiment with both modern and traditional flavours, ‘frushi’ (fruit sushi) and even character bento.

    Alice has over four year’s experience of teaching adults and children of all ages and regularly hosts tailor made parties, children’s events and classes that can include both sushi and origami or just focusing on one.
