What happens in this class?

There are a few beginners projects you can choose from. You will be shown how to handle the tools safely. Then transferring a design onto the wood. The tutor will demonstrate each technique as you work through the project. If there is time, you can finish your piece with an oil or wax polish. You will be working alongside some more experienced carvers who are regulars to the Saturday sessions.

Really enjoyable session. Roli is a great teacher and the people in the class were really easy to get on with as well :) In this class I attempted to make a spoon, didn't go exactly to plan but it was completely my fault. I would 100% recommend this class, Roli is brilliant and it was a really nice relaxing way to spend the day!

Roli was AMAZING. We went as a couple and both had so much fun. We learned to use the relevant tools and had such a great time with the group. Excellent value for money, very memorable and 100% going back again. Thank you Roli! :)

Your Teacher

Roli Ross was born on the Holloway Road on the middle day of spring, the second son of a second son.

After a short carpentry and joinery course he went on to take a furniture craft course. On both courses he was more interested in carving detail into the pieces he created rather than the construction of them. This led him on to the City and Guilds of London Art School's 3 year Diploma in Ornamental and Historical Woodcarving. Since 2005 he has taught woodcarving at adult education colleges and from his studio in Greenwich and has been accepting…

Incredibly informative and hands on course. Great exposure to different type of wood, tools and techniques. The instructor Rolli is incredibly kind and accommodating. The workshop is well provisioned and the course is well prepared especially new students just beginning and looking for a first taste. Very positive and collaborative environment. I left feeling very happy with the experience. I would definitely recommend!
