About your host, Minerva Workshop
The Minerva Workshop is located in Kentish Town in North London, in an old Victorian Warehouse full of creative businesses, and run by painter Lottie Cole.
The Minerva Workshop hosts masterclasses taught by artists and artisans as well as regular weekly classes. All the classes are taught by professional full-time artists and artisans, who love to share their knowledge and skill.
The classes are open to all levels, unless stated, and kept to a limited number of no more than 12. This keeps the classes intimate and allows for everyone to have sufficient help and encouragement in a friendly atmosphere.
As well as learning and expanding skills our goal is to send participants away refreshed and invigorated by sharing a creative experience.
Materials: FABRICS TO BRING: The finer the fabric you use, the more softly gathered you can have your lampshade, and therefore ideal fabrics are thinner/medium cottons or cotton mixes, silks, quilting fabrics or indian block prints or even saris! NOT ideal are thicker fabrics such as heavier cottons, linens, upholstery fabrics, velvets etc. If you have a large pattern please note it may be lost in the gathers! You will need half a metre of fabric – however we will be joining widths so if you have a larger pattern, please bring more. Do ask for more details if you are unsure. INCLUDED: in the cost of this workshop: full tuition over two days (there will be breaks for tea/coffee and lunch) and illustrated handouts, use of haberdashery – pins, needles, thread, scissors but please bring matching thread for your fabric if possible, and your own kit if you prefer.
