What happens in this class?

Kogin is a traditional Japanese embroidery technique that hails from the great sashiko traditions of northern Japan, but unlike sashiko, is a counted thread technique. It is stitched from side to side, resulting in fabric almost three times its original thickness, trapping air for warmth.

During this 2-hour workshop, you will try different kogin patterns and learn to read different kogin patterns.

All the materials will post to you once you book the workshop, all you need is just a pair of scissors.

What you will learn
  • Kogin history and culture background
  • Different patterns in Kogin
What you will need
  • A pair of scissors

This is a great class especially if you've done the other Sashiko classes that Yiran offers. The instructions are very clear and Yiran is a patient and skilled tutor. Highly recommended!

Thoroughly relaxing couple of hours. Worth doing if you have already tried the sashiko class - it’s more intense concentration and very absorbing.
