In this workshop you'll learn to print with metallic foils, using simple techniques that you can easily repeat at home.
Two options are available: you can work either on fabric or on paper.

All materials are included but if you choose to work on fabric, you may want to bring your own items to be upcycled: foiling works well on clothing such as jeans and t-shirts, cotton bags, cushion covers, napkins. Flat, non-stretchy fabrics with as little texture as possible work best. Foiled fabrics are washable, long-lasting and very easy to hand-make at home. It's also a stunning way to embellish your sewing and embroidery work.

If you prefer to work on paper you’ll have the option of combinign foils with collage or pen work, and create your own  ready-to-frame pictures, greeting cards and/or reference samples showing the different application methods.

You will be able to experiment with gold, silver, copper and coloured foils, and Gabriela will show how to use these creatively through stencilling, stamping and painting. As well as guiding you through the technical process, she will help you design compositions that work.

This craft workshop is ideal for beginners and the more experienced crafter or artist who wants to add a new technique to their repertoire. Everything taught can be repeated at home so get ready to be inspired!

Learn to print on paper or fabric with Metallic Foils

Please note this class is for women only.

This is a drop in class to learn the crafty skill of pattern cutting. During this class you will have the opportunity to make a pattern from a block , adjust a ready-made pattern or even make your own block with free hand cutting style.

As a drop-in session, some, but not all of the points below will be covered over 3 hours - this will depend on your ability and how many sessions you have attended in the past:

How to take body measurements
How to adjust a ready-made pattern
How to make a free hand loose fitting  block to your size
How to make a skirt
Dart manipulation
How to create style lines
How to adjust a pattern to a different size

The class happens at the same time every week, so feel free book onto multiple sessions to continue to learn this skill!
These classes are ladies only classes for basic and intermediate levels.

Join Lorenzo Davitti our resident printmaker at Lavender Print School, he will show you two techniques: Lino and Drypoint, choosing one to explore for the rest of the workshop.  It's the perfect class for creative enthusiasts, beginners or someone wanting to learn a little more about printmaking.

Drypoint printmaking
Drypoint involves scratching an image into a thin plastic or metal sheet using a range of metal tools.
The lines that are made are then filled with ink and transferred onto paper.

Lino printmaking
Lino is what we in the business call 'relief' printing and works in the opposite way to drypoint.
You will work by cutting away everything but the image, then ink the outlying surface, and print onto paper.

Our printmaker Lorenzo has trained in Printmaking and is a  practising artists who dedicates his time to helping and teaching others. He will guide you through the process, from choosing your design, teaching you the skills of carving and helping you produce those beautiful prints.

What's Lino printing? Lino printing is a form of fine art printmaking where the printing plate is cut into lino. Yes, lino as in linoleum, as in the floor covering. The lino is then inked, a piece of paper placed over it, and then run through a printing press or pressure applied by hand to transfer the ink to the paper

You will be guided to make your very own personalised leather wallet. Choose from a selection of reclaimed leather and a variety colorful stitching thread, to make your wallet truly unique. Chanelle will guide you on how to hammer stitching holes and use the ancient art of the saddle stitch to craft your wallet. Finishing off your completed wallet with your or a loved one's initials.
