What happens in this class?

By the end of the ten weeks, you will have developed a solid base of woodcarving skills. We will explore in detail different areas and styles of woodcarving, which will lead to you creating one or more finished carvings. Several other topics will also be covered in the course. This includes (but certainly isn't limited to): tool sharpening, the safe handling of tools and other equipment, planning new projects (including making maquettes), suitable timbers for carving and where to buy good quality tools and timber.

Things to remember

Please don't buy a cheap set of carving tools for this course. All tools are available in the workshop and there is a wide selection of timber.

Roli is a really helpful and encouraging teacher and creates a relaxed environment in the classes. I learnt a lot not only about the carving itself but also wood, tools and helpful literature.
