In this class
During this day you will be introduced to and delve further into the world of picture framing. You will learn about the important impact of mount design and decoration and how it can increase the perceived value of any art form. Whether you produce framed work for retail or just to hang at home, you will be astonished by how simply you can achieve powerful and desired effects simply by applying a select few skills and products. This day will allow you to present your images and art in a more dramatic and exciting way. Learn to maximize the impact of your images, engaging with the final element of presentation. The day will focus on an array of practical skills and the understanding of products used in mount cutting and decoration. You will produce a portfolio of mounted artwork, covering the following areas:
- a range of cutting techniques using a mount cutting system
- experimenting with double mount, offset corner and combination mounts;
- marking out and cutting a mount with multiple openings for groups of photos
- deep bevel mounts;
- spaced mounts

Kew Gardens Underground Station is a short walk from the venue. There is no parking at the venue. Please bring a packed lunch, we provide tea and coffee, and the items listed below we ask you to bring for framing / mounting. A picture or photo up to A4 size (297x210mm) for the double mount, Three pieces of themed artwork/photos for the multiple mount opening: Portrait orientation, roughly A4 size Landscape orientation, roughly A5 size (148mm x 210mm) and Landscape orientation, roughly A6 size (148mm x 105mm) You may also wish to bring 3 x roughly 100mm x 160mm images to attach to smaller, demonstration pieces. NB. All images for mounting must be on paper (thicker art paper is fine) and not any type of board.
