What happens in this class?

Boy oh boy, it's getting wild out there. We must stay safe and keep ourselves occupied. Welcome to the Scavenger's Terrarium Building Workshop.

All of you out there isolating, may feel a little lonely, and that's alright. We can bring some plants from outside, inside and have them isolate with us, in their own isolation!

We will be building a mini world inside a vessel using plants, moss, toys, soil, stones and whatever we can find.
This is a foundations class so whatever you don't have now, you can add in next time you make.

Such a fun class! Sofi is absolutely brilliant and a joy to spend time with. I've done terrarium making before but this was so much more. We made scenes in our terrariums that told stories. It was joyous and I was in a fabulous mood for the rest of the day! Thank you!

Fantastic class! I now understand the basics on how to make a terrarium, and Sofi's offered so much material to learn more afterwards like what kind of plants you can have in there, different upgrades. I'm not very good with plants normally so went for the very basics, but I love how my little pickle jar terrarium works and I'm amazed I was able to make it just with what I had lying around the house. It was also a nice time to relax and forget about the world for a bit. I really recommend this class!

This was a fun and low key class where I could ask any questions about terrariums that I had. There was a good balance between tutor-led and informative phases and more conversational and friendly. Sofi clearly knows a lot about terraria and growing plants, so we were given the reasons for different decisions made and how to overcome possible challenges. I know more about terraria and, for the price, it was really great value. Improvements would be to give more details about what equipment we need and suggested bonus equipment, such as tweezers, moss, small plants, different sized stones, etc. Some information did come through after booking and before the class, but knowing all this before booking would help.

I felt the cares of the world dissolve as I learned about the creation, care, and maintenance of a tiny mossy world. All questions were answered; all whimsies entertained. Now I want to fill my home with terrariums (terraria?)!

This workshop was brilliant. It was fun, educational, therapeutic and informative. Sofi - the host, beautifully shares her terrarium knowledge and tips, and takes the time to answer all our questions. Thanks MOSS Labs for the wonderful time, the mindfulness and the laughs. It was such a beautiful thing to do in these unprecedented times, I loved going moss picking and gravel spotting, I loved learning about moss and how incredible an organism it is. My favourite part was the creative part, where we all made a miniature world inside our vessel and wove some storytelling in the process. You made my weekend!

The workshop for Apocalypse Terrarium Building was all it set out to be. The tutor successfully got me outside in the dull April day to scavenge for the materials (moss, soil and pebbles etc - all of which was mentioned in the previous e-mail). We were all introduced to each other and the class began with an explanation/history of the ‘World of Terraria’ , from gathering materials from in and around our own environment and then onto building our own . Each stage was clear and fun to carry out and the tutor gave each of us plenty of time to experiment (she was very patient with me!). At the end (which came far too soon) we accomplished our goals - We were asked to make stories up about our terrarium by the lovely Tutor - all of them were so clever and inventive. I really enjoyed this experience and find myself “tweaking” my terrarium - improving, making up more scenarios etc. It was a calming, interesting and clever class and shall be recommending it to others. Many thanks👏👏👏

I'm now the proud owner of a beautiful sci-fi themed (my choice!) terrarium. Sofi has fanastic knowledge of both the scavenging and the design elements of terrarium building, and I can't wait to see how my little mossy bundle changes over time. More than anything, this session is a wonderfully relaxing, expertly presented and immersive way to spend a lunch break.
