This class has been developed for those who have little or no experience of using a sewing machine, and who want to learn not only basic skills but develop the confidence to progress onto making clothes, cushions and other exciting things for themselves using a sewing machine.

In this class

You will learn basic skills including how to thread a sewing machine and wind a bobbin, feed fabric through, sew in a straight line and turn corners. You will also have time to explore the range of features and stitches on the machine and practice sewing different types of seams…

Things to remember

All materials are provided (but you are welcome to bring your own for the cushion or tote bag afternoon project)

What a fantastic teacher and lesson, five stars all the way. Bali ( I think that’s how you say her Name, (apologies if incorrect) was EXCELLENT. I throughly enjoyed the course and learnt so much. This was because the teacher was more then experienced and very knowledgeable, polite, and easy to talk to and ask questions or any help you needed. I am very confident now in my swing skills but also how to use the swinging machine safely and efficiently. A big thank you to Bali and I am definitely coming back fir all her courses. Naz

Absolutely loved this class and was surprised by how much I learnt in one day! Barley will take you through how to set up the machine, try different stitches and two different hen types and then in the afternoon make a bag or a pillow from scratch including how to do patchwork or appliqué! I would highly recommend if you want to learn about the basics of sewing. My only feedback would be that the class was a little big for a small room particularly on one of the hottest days of the year!!
