FAQs
WHAT IS THE STRUCTURE OF THE CLASS?
This class takes place across one day, between 10.00 - 17.00 with an hour for lunch. We will begin by taking measurements with assistance from fellow students or the teacher. Following this, we will proceed to creating our own toiles with guidance and support from the teacher. Once the block is made seam allowance will be added and the toile made. You can work at your own pace and benefit from individual attention and support.
WILL I HAVE THE PERFECT FITTING TOILE BY THE END OF THE CLASS?
You will leave this class with one completed toile but it can take several attempts to create one that fits perfectly. This class will equip you with the skills needed to continue tweaking and adjusting your pattern at home to get the fit perfect. In case you need further assistance in the future, you’re welcome to join our monthly Sewing Surgery to receive individual advice and guidance from our experienced teachers.

Very informative course. Really useful. Each step was very well explained. I ended up with block to take home and a toile that actually fits me. It also gave me the confidence to alter shop-bought patterns to fit better.

Really enjoyed the class. Laura was really good at explaining the process and generous with her help, so we got through a lot in the time we had. The small group size made for a really nice atmosphere. Highly recommend, and can’t wait to finish my trousers

It was a well organised and friendly class, with lots of support and advice. I would recommend the class to newbees to sewing and experienced sewers alike. I am going back for another class as testament to how much I enjoyed it.

Really great course, learnt a lot. Even though was a very big step up for me, really helped to start understanding how to alter patterns and get my head around why specific changes work fo your body shape.

I was a bit scared to make trousers so I decided to take this class, and now I feel much more confident! Jamie help us measure ourselves and then transfer these to paper to make a trouser block. We then sewed it up and made adjustments as necessary. It's so much better to have someone with a trained eye (Jamie) to look at where the block needs adjusting. I really enjoyed the class and I feel so much more encouraged that trousers shouldn't be so scary to make!

Really fun, laid back class. I came away with a well fitting pair of trousers but did feel that an extra hour would be helpful to properly discuss fitting issues and next steps with the toile/block

I had such a good day! The class was intimate and relaxed and Jaime was a friendly and super knowledgeable teacher. Whilst being a bit of a learning curve for me ( I'd never made my own pattern or toile before) I was chuffed to bits to have completed my first pair of trousers in a day! I've definitely learnt lots of top tips from Make Mee and the other students and feel I can totally have a go on my own now. Top banana!
