    What you'll learn

Whether it is your first foray into embroidery, or you have stitched your fair share - this class is a journey into geometric designs, inspired by the Amazonian Cosmo-vision.

    In this class

There is no shortage of designs and stitches you will learn whilst you explore the rich tapestry of the textiles of the Amazon rain forest of Peru.

In the morning, you will have a mini-masterclass for the beginner as you learn the art of hand embroidery by working on a design inspired by allotment gardening. You will learn some embroidery stitches that will leave you able to embellish dinner party napkins.

In the afternoon you will move over to Goldwork embroidery, one of the oldest and richest techniques of hand embroidery. It has been practiced since ancient times - using gold, silver, copper and wire threads for ecclesiastical costumes in Europe. Today goldwork embroidery appears in art forms and in fashion and the class is eco-friendly too as you will be working with recycled fabric.

Bella will be preparing special embroidery kits for £12 in the morning and £15 in the afternoon, containing an instruction sheet, needle & threads (which you can buy on the day), oh and there will be embroidery hoops available to use (which can be purchased in the shop after the class too) but you are welcome to bring your own supplies if you already have them!

    Now you can

*Take your stitching game to the next level with this beautiful Indian Paisley design *Feel inspired and ready to embark on your own embroidery designs!

    Did you know?

In the 1800's, women were taught to hold a crochet hook like a pencil because it looked daintier and more feminine. These days, most crocheters hold a hook in the palm of their hand to reduce hand fatigue and carpal tunnel risks.

Since 2012, "The Imaginarium", a fully-fitted working studio, has hosted workshops and classes.

Barley has been awarded as one of Kevin McCloud's (Grand Designs) Green Heroes for her minimally-processed, up-cycled products, which "demonstrate a lightness of touch backed up by a rigorous approach".
