What you will do
If you love design and colour, you will love creating these beautiful and unique 3D effects on paper.
This class will take you through various methods and techniques for creating your own decorative paste paper. We'll start by taking some inspiration from historical and modern examples of paste papers, and then use different materials and recipes to come up with our own versions. We'll use tools and found objects to test shapes and patterns, and combine them to make unique finished pieces.
This is such a versatile technique for decorating paper. Final uses include for bookbinding, paper craft, scrapbooking, art work, I've even used it before to decorate huge sheets of wrapping paper! This is a super satisfying craft that is also easy to carry on at home.

About your host, Paperwilds
Paperwilds is run by bookbinder, paper artist and photographer Freya Scott. Freya has been a bookbinder for 9 years and has worked for various binderies and institutions across the south of England. She has been teaching for the last four years in various places in London and across the country. Her longest role was as principle instructor at Bound by Veterans, a charity that uses bookbinding and related crafts as part of a rehabilitation therapy for sick and injured veterans.
In London she works in a studio that she shares with one other bookbinder and Ludo, who is her dog-shaped chief supervisor/cuddle supplier.
* This is a messy business. Wear some old clothes or an apron! * Be aware we have a studio dog called Ludo. He's big and soppy and loves a bit of attention.
