Mixed Media Canvas

In this workshop you will learn how to create an original picture using a combination of painting and collage. You do not need any special skills to take part so don't worry if you can't paint or draw! Gabriela will guide you through the technical process and help you design a composition that works. By the end of the day you will leave the studio having completed a picture that you will probably want to hang on the wall when you get home.

You will use acrylics, printed papers and magazines from Gabriela's extensive collection to create your very own masterpiece on strong card stock (supplied). Alternatively, you can bring your own support (a flat surface such as a piece of wood or a stretched canvas) or purchase a 40 cm square canvas at the studio for £10.

All materials plus snacks, tea and coffee are included in the cost of the workshop. You can either bring your own lunch or eat at one of the local cafes.

This workshop will surely tickle your imagination and increase your confidence in textile methods. Creating an art piece is not as difficult as you imagine when you know the basics. No previous drawing experience is required to attend this short course.

Come and spend 2 evenings with us and
learn all the basics, with Monika Fejes, the textile tutor, and designer. The small workshop size ensures valuable one-to-one teacher and participant time, allowing maximum engagement and assistance.

By the end of the session you will be able to:

Create a unique design.

Be able to use photo transfers.

Create layered backgrounds.

Add stenciled and stamped marks to the fabric.

Prepare and apply appliqués.

Decorative embroidery stitches.

Binding your textile artwork.

We will also look at using reclaimed, sustainable fabrics and the importance of hand sewing, and composition techniques amongst many other interesting skills. This short course will cover all you need to know to get started in this absorbing, creative and rewarding craft.

Textile Art/Mixed Media Workshop

Love anything vintage, retro or kitsch? Want to get creative and make an incredible collage artwork by using recycled materials? If the answer is yes, join me for a 2.5 hour masterclass in making your own vintage paper collage!

You’ll be shown how to work with all sorts of different old paper materials such as vintage books, magazines, cards and photo's, how to make a selection for your own artwork, how to (carefully) construct a collage so it becomes a cohesive piece and (optional) how to spice it up with glitters!

We'll be making a piece of art - maybe you want to keep it yourself, maybe you're making it for a lovely friend or family member.

What's included? 2.5 hours of tips & tricks, guidance with sourcing images, cutting + puzzle'ing and creating your artwork.
All vintage paper materials and a white picture mount to frame your piece of art.

This is a great team building exercise, teams of 4 people (recommended) can share a big canvas to add paint and other media to make an unique piece of art and learn some new things in a fun an inclusive way.

During the 2-hour workshop, you will be using a range of materials and techniques to produce a piece you can keep.

Blanca, the tutor will be able to guide you and answer any questions you may have.

You will be using Acrylics, pencils, canvas, gold, silver or rose leaf flakes, glue, paint tray.

The art sessions take place at your chosen location.
