    What you'll learn

Capture one of the worlds most beautiful and culturally rich cities on camera with this exciting photography course in England's majestic capital. Under the guidance of Steve Hedges, photographer extraordinaire, you will learn all the best tricks and secrets to getting the perfect shot of London as you tour the city at night (when the city really comes to life!)

    In this class

We believe that London is at its spectacular best just after the sun goes down, with the reflective light providing a stunning backdrop for all photographers.

As time is of the essence we will focus on a particular area of London, namely the city, which boasts a plethora of eye-catching buildings and landscapes to excite all photography enthusiasts. Steve will guide you on this tour, giving an intimate exposition of various techniques and skills. If you already own a tripod then we advise you bring this along to the class, but if not there a couple which you are able to borrow.

Like many major cities London looks spectacular at night. With this in mind I have developed a number of night shoots in London. For this course we meet up outside Liverpool Street main line station in the city.

Because this is a night shoot a tripod is essential for this workshop. If you don't have a tripod please don't worry too much as I have a couple of tripods that I lend out to students.

    Now you can

    • Have a full understanding of what makes a truly spectacular photograph and how to operate a camera
    • Have an understanding of what to look for when taking street photography and improve your photographic eye
    • Further these skills by going out and practicing around town solo

    Did you know?

The first known photographic image to be taken was shot in 1826 by a complex process called heliography. The exposure time need to take the photograph was 8 hours. Things have come a long way since then, however, with the advent of the digital age where 350 billion photos are taken worldwide each year.

About your host, Steve Hedges Photography

Steve Hedges has been a professional photographer for over 25 years and has shot a huge variety of subjects from public relations, commercial photography, portraiture, weddings, landscape and nature.

Steve is fully qualified with the Master Photographer’s Association and the Royal Photographic Society and was shortlisted in the 2011 and 2014 and 2015 Outdoor photographer of the year competitions and in the British Wildlife photographer of the year competition.

For many years now, Steve has been running a variety of photography courses and workshops alongside his professional photographic assignments.

Steve says “I find it immensely rewarding helping people to reach their full potential as a photographer. One of the great things about photography is that you are constantly learning new things as technology changes and you improve your understanding of the art. I find that I still have a hunger to learn new techniques and always to improve as a photographer. I believe this keeps my approach to teaching photography fresh and up-to-date. All of my courses are conducted in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. I find that my students get on really well together sharing information, techniques and tips about camera equipment, in fact many have gone on to become good photography “buddies” which is I think a lovely bonus to attending one of our courses.”

Steve teaches in a variety of locations as well as in the classroom and he likes to get out and explore new places.
