    Beginners welcome

    Fashion Antidote, E1

    What you'll learn

It's one thing to sew from a pre-existing pattern, and another to design and create that pattern yourself. This East London pattern cutting class is suitable for intermediate students with prior experience, or who have completed the Stage 1 and 2 Pattern Making courses offered by Fashion Antidote.

    In this class

    The course will cover:

    • Drafting a shirt block
    • Button wraps
    • Yokes
    • Creating pleats and tucks
    • Drafting collars
    • Drafting a cuff and a placket opening

You'll also draft your own full scale pattern to include a button wrap, yoke, a collar and a cuff, including seam allowances, all pattern markings and annotations.

    Now you can

    • master how to create patterns from unique measurements
    • transfer your new-found skills onto other exciting garment making projects
    • be on your way to filling wardrobes and racks with shirts of your own design

    Did you know?

The shirt used to be an undergarment, worn underneath other clothes. Even as late as the 19th century, a visible shirt worn with nothing over the top of it was considered a bit naughty. These days, t-shirts are wardrobe staple all year round, and collared shirts are essential for office and formal wear.
