What happens in this class?

In the relaxing two-hour class, Nessa from the Knit Knack Shack tutoring team will teach you the stitches that you will need so you can begin your fabulous journey into knitting. You’ll cover: holding the needles; casting on and casting off; basic stitches of knit and purl; rib and moss. Once these stitches are conquered, Nessa can advise you through projects that you will now be able to tackle. The possibilities are endless. The class will take place in the serene surroundings of the Blue House Yard, a locale full of unique shops and creative studios.

Things to remember

Please arrive 10 minutes before the class begins at the Knick Knack Shack, Blue House Yard, Wood Green. If delayed contact Jenny on: 07306 167221. You will be provided with knitting needles and yarn. . You may bring your own materials.

You can purchase refreshments from the bus bar.

Do I need to bring yarn and needles?
No. It will be provided to you free of charge.
Are refreshments available?
Yes. You can get them from the bar in the Blue House Yard at a 10% discount.

I've just done a Knitting for beginners session with Jenny at the Knit Shack. It was great. Jenny has the patience of a saint. She made me feel relaxed and allowed me the confidence I needed to leave the session knowing how to knit! And the Knit Shack is gorgeous, a lovely little creative space in the middle of Wood Green. I highly recommend it! I'm already planning my new scarf for next winter!

I haven't knitted in a number of decades and to be honest when I did I never finished a project and wasn't a confident knitter. Jenny was so great at taking me through casting on, different stitches and interpreting patterns that I came away confident and enthused. Having a one to one session with her was a perfect way to learn and get my knitting mojo back. I can't recommend this class enough for someone who wants to learn, or remind themselves, how to knit.

I did a beginners knitting course with Jenny and absolutely loved it! I can’t believe how much I learnt in one lesson. I can now cast on, knit, pearl, increase, decrease, change colour and cast off! Needles and a choice of wool were provided. Jenny is so lovely, encouraging and patient. I now feel ready to start my first project. I highly recommend this course to everyone. Enjoy!

The bespoke knitting for beginners class was brilliant! Jenny was a fantastic teacher, explaining things really clearly and working at my pace, we fitted so much into the two hours I came away knowing a number of different techniques. I would recommend this class to anyone, I was a complete beginner having never knitted before!

We had an absolutely brilliant session with Jenny, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Jenny was very knowledgable and patient (especially when I struggled to make my first stitch!) - and very personable to boot. By the end we felt like we knew what we were doing and now have a brand new hobby! Would heartily recommend this class to anyone wanting to get knitting and those looking for a fun chance to try something new.
