What happens in this class?

Granny squares are a cornerstone of crochet, first recorded in the 1890s, and synonymous with the 1970s. These classic squares are most commonly found in blankets but can be used for bags, pillows and even clothing. A change in size, shape and colour combination can give give a modern look to an under appreciated technique.

In this one day class we will cover the basics of crochet and master the granny square. We will work on chain stitch, double crochet stitch, slip stitch and joining the squares together.

Things to remember

This class requires 3 x 50g of DK weight wool in your choice of colours and a 4mm crochet hook. These supplies can be purchased from the mini mobile yarn shop on the day.

Natalie has the patience of a saint and is able to accommodate a complete beginner and someone more advanced in the same class. She provided the needle and all the yarn in so many gorgeous colours. She makes a good cuppa too 😁 Thanks xx

Natalie Selles is a knitting instructor and designer working in Chelmsford, England. Originally from Toronto, Canada, she has working in yarn shops and for knitting businesses for over 10 years. She has taught knitting classes in London for 3 years, mostly at Knit With Attitude in Stoke Newington. Her designs have appeared in magazines such as Pom Pom Quarterly.
