What happens in this class?

The summer term saw students develop their projects further. Everyone made good headway in writing story arcs and understanding the protagonists' wants, needs, and traits.

Everyone developed a whole chapter, from plan to first draft, edits, and completion for our end-of-term immersive reading session.

In the Autumn term, we are encouraging writing scenes and chapters in varying stages along the story arc.

Using other authors' work, we will explore characters' backstories and how they influence cast relationships and manifest through action (body language) and dialogue. Worldbuilding will also continue to play a large part in the coming weeks…

Things to remember

You will need to bring a notebook and a pen.

Tea and coffee will be provided.

I have really enjoyed these creative writing courses and this will be my third time joining the group. Ruth has been incredibly supportive and flexible and generous with her time and knowledge. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone who is interested!

I loved this class! Ruth is a caring, thoughtful and creative teacher. I had no experience of writing (hadnt attempted to write since school!) but felt supported to get started and definitely improved as time went on

Ruth V Jarvis is a BA (Hons) author, editor and script consultant. She writes trauma narrative poetry, feminist and historic fiction and non-fiction.
