**Course objectives:**
As the year comes to a close, it is often time to set intentions for the coming New Year. Many of us have a story inside just aching to find its way onto the page, and this can feel like an unrealisable goal. 

Here at Mata, we break down the process into realisable goals, giving an outlet for imagination to become a creative writing practice. Returning writers and newcomers all find a supportive and inspiring space to express themselves.

Those who join us will benefit from all that returning students have learned and further teaching that deepens the understanding of what it takes to write successful narratives. 

Our Creative Writing Workshop takes place in an environment where writers are encouraged to support each other's processes by sharing, listening, and giving feedback. This is also an opportunity to share your writing and be supported by your tutor in the editing and critique process.

Course objectives cover a range of techniques:
Character development, Story Structure, Foreshadowing and Symbolism, Exposition, Setting, Dialogue, Research, Editing Process, feedback and critique, Genre and Form.

Come and join us to find out how the world of established authors, writing prompts, working in a group, understanding the publishing process, and being connected to this wonderful practice can raise your confidence in becoming a writer.

**Ruth V Jarvis **is a BA (Hons) author, editor, and script consultant. Her creative writing focuses on trauma narratives expressed through poetry, feminist, historical, magic realism, and creative nonfiction. She understands the key components to developing and encouraging others to build a solid foundation in their writing practice and bring their stories to life.

Mata are offering one-to-one sessions with their skilled tutor to help you make sense of your writing projects and ideas.

Skilled in motivation, and supporting the individual to believe in themselves, our tutor can help you take those steps that are often hard to do alone.

In a one-to-one, you can bring your ideas or writing project and choose what you want to discuss or just ask for general advice on Character, Story Arc, Setting, Editing, World-building, narrative, genre, theme... And much more.

 The sessions do offer ongoing support via email and Zoom and further sessions if required.

**Intention**

The session is there to motivate a step into the world of a writer, giving perspective on writing practice in daily life.
