Hanging gardens of Hackney!

Create your own mini gardens in a Hackney pottery studio

In this 4 hr workshop you make 2 plant holders for succulents in red terracotta clay, one free-standing and one hanging pot. They will be fired and ready to pick up later with a selection of plants and hanging material

The workshop introduces you to the pinch-pot method and surface decoration can be explored by stamping impressions or additions of moulded or cut clay shapes.

Suitable for beginners or those with some ceramic experience

Things to remember

You need to bring: A face mask and towel. Your enthusiasm for making pottery! My studio can be very cold in winter so please wear warm clothes. Clay can be messy so bear this in mind, although I do provide plastic aprons. Tea will be provided

Lovely class. Su set the right pace for us and, because it was a small group, we all got lots of input, guidance and attention. And clay. I made three pots I was happy with. Great tea time snacks, too, with surprisingly good cheese straws!

Su is a great teacher; patient, friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and a good listener. The venue is nice and spacious so social distancing was no problem whatsoever. I enjoyed the class very much and had great fun the whole afternoon.

The class was incredibly relaxing and fun. Su is a great teacher (not to mention her baking skills) and extremely caring towards her student. Once the pots have their little succulents they look absolutely fabulous regardless of our own pottery skills :) Thanks a lot for the session and looking forward to more such experiences!

I received this class as a birthday gift and spent a fabulous Saturday afternoon with Su back in June! I left the place after four of the most relaxing hours I've had all year. Su is not only amazingly talented and helpful, she's also a fantastic person to spend time with. I couldn't wait to return for my pots - now also full of plants, which she provides herself - and have another quality chat with her. Couldn't recommend this class enough, and can't wait to get a chance to return!
