Five session course
Learn about hand and wheel pottery and discover why its oh so fashionable!
Each morning we’ll start with a brief talk or presentation on topics such as contemporary practice. surface decoration, glazing and firing. We'll then take students through some practical demonstrations such as different handbuild techniques, special considerations for the kiln firing of sculptural pieces, surface decoration, using oxides and coloured slips, handle pulling or throwing on the wheel. Students will be encouraged to work on a project build of their choice with creative directional and technical support from a practicing ceramic artist or potter.
Students can work on functional or non-functional designs and glean advice from advanced practicing potters and see inside a working studio. Personal projects can range from making teapot or tea set, vase, cups, a ceramic clock or lamp base.
Includes basic materials. There is an additional charge for firing and glazing of finished pieces.
