We will be working on vessel forms that have been thrown on the wheel and dried to a leather-hard state ready for decoration. (Existing students are welcome to work on their own items if they wish.)
The class will be spent learning and experimenting with different methods for expressing pattern and image upon the clay surface, including: sgraffito, stencils, inlay, and printing, as well as methods for creating texture. We will be using a range of slips, underglazes and oxides to produce vibrant results on finished pieces that will then be glazed and fired.
Students will be given time…
