Really enjoyed this class. I liked the blend of a brief intro to Cubism, a bit of art history and practical help. In a very short while (the class only lasts an hour) it transformed my way of thinking and, much to my amazement, I was able to produce a piece of Cubist art that I'm quite proud of! It has certainly allowed me to think approach my art in a different way.

I could not recommend Gail more highly. She is knowledgeable, inspirational, adaptable and - crucially - kind and generous with her time and expertise. My children all adore her and have learnt a huge amount about artists and techniques whilst producing some fabulous work.
Claire Noyce - 21 April 2020
Gail has inspired our daughter with the stories she tells of a particular artist and their work. Our daughter’s art work is fantastic from the class. Gail is enthusiastic and engaging. She cares about her pupils and their own critique of their work.

I wasn't sure what to expect but ended up being a 1on1 class so was happy to have so much attention! I found Gail calm, patient, passionate, practical and an intelligent teacher but loved the way she infused the class with some art history too which helped to make sense of what she was asking me to create! My first cubist work on A2 was not very successful and did not look anything like a cubist collage however Gail gave me some wonderful advice on how to improve on the piece - showing me other ways to look at the work and to analyse it as objectively as possible - the importance of taking a step back - giving it time - leaving it for a few days then coming back to it - the importance to separate ourselves form the work and to then have the ability to look afresh! I've now signed on for my second class and we worked on portraits which I love. We discussed elements of portraiture and the various artist who expressed these over the years and naturally our favourites or ones we were more drawn to and why! Gail offered a wonderful painting by Manet and I worked on this most happily and even an hour or more after the class was over! Thanks for appointing Gail to tutor this class - will be encouraging other people to take it too!! Love it!!
