FAQs
What can we expect in this Art Journaling workshop?
This is a beginner’s workshop that introduces you to the wonderful world of Art journaling. We start the session with a 3-minute Mindfulness practice, followed by a few markmaking and warm up exercises. We discuss the art journaling process and get a clear idea about the project we will be working on. You will be guided throughout with clear step-by-step instructions and demonstrations.
I am a complete beginner – will I be able to do Art Journaling?
Our workshops are suitable for complete beginners as well as experienced artists. All our workshops are taught by Dr. Sai Banerjee, an experienced teaching artist and calligrapher. Having taught hundreds of students with varying skill levels, Sai is adept at recognising the challenges that a beginner might face. By following a process-based approach to teaching, Sai simplifies seemingly complex techniques to make it accessible for everyone.
What age group is this workshop suitable for?
Our Art journaling sessions are suitable for adults of all ages (16+).
I have already attended one of your workshops will this be the same?
In each workshop, we work on individual projects and explore different mediums, themes, and techniques. So there’s usually no overlap except for the introduction to Art journaling.
What are your class sizes?
Our class sizes are usually between 12-14 students. However, our numbers may vary depending on the capacity of the venue. As a general guideline, our maximum limit is 20 students per session, to ensure everyone gets individual attention.
What should we wear?
You may wear comfortable clothing with some layers as the temperature settings at our venue may vary. We will be using a variety of media during the sessions, which can sometimes get a bit messy - so please be mindful of long sleeves and jewellery.
Do we have to bring anything?
All materials will be provided. All you need to bring is an open mind.
Are your classes Covid secure?
Yes. We take all the necessary precautions to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our students. We sanitise all the tables and chairs before and after the session.
Where is your class located?
Landmark Arts Centre, Ferry Road, Teddington TW11 9NN. The workshop will be held at the Studio, a lovely setting with plenty of natural light and ventilation, located on the first floor of Landmark Arts Centre in Teddington. The Landmark Arts Centre is a Grade II* listed building, built in the 1880s as a magnificent gothic style church.
How do we get there?
Train – Southwest trains to Teddington, and then a 10-minute signposted walk from the station. Buses – Several buses - R68, 281 and 285 stop outside Landmark Arts centre at the Teddington Lock stop. Please check your bus routes. By car – There’s no parking on site but free parking is available on surrounding streets.
If I am unable to attend the class can I get a refund?
If you wish to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances, you need to give us at least 3 weeks notice in order to get a full refund. If it’s less than 3 weeks we recommend that you reschedule and book another session as we run several workshops throughout the year. The venues are paid for and pre-booked so it’s hard for us to find a replacement for a cancelled booking within a short notice.
Do you teach private lessons?
Yes. I occasionally teach private lessons for small groups.
