The perfect introduction to t-shirt screen printing, our beginner workshop is ideal for anyone interested in learning the complete screen printing process or simply looking to print some t-shirts with their own design for a special occasion. The sessions will run from 10am – 4pm with a 1 hour break for lunch, a great opportunity to sample one of the many food kiosks located on levels 5 and 6 of the building. The day will be split as follows:

Morning

After a short intro into the process you’ll guided through the process of coating and exposing of your screen.

Afternoon

We will go through choosing and mixing colours and then setting up the t-shirt carousel ready for printing. When the screens are dry everyone will have a go at printing their t-shirts. Each person will walk away with 5 tees printed in a colour and size breakdown of their choosing.

Beginners T-Shirt Screen Printing Workshop

The perfect introduction to fabric screen printing, our beginner workshop is ideal for anyone interested in learning the complete screen printing process or simply looking to print some tea towels or cushion covers with their own design for a special occasion. The sessions will run from 10am – 4pm with a 1 hour break for lunch, a great opportunity to sample one of the many food kiosks located on Levels 5 and 6 of the building. The day will be split as follows:

Morning

After an introduction into the process you’ll guided through the process of coating and exposing your screen and preparing it ready for printing.

Afternoon

After lunch you’ll expose your design onto the screen. While they’re drying we’ll cover ink mixing and the process of setting up the fabric tables ready for printing. When the screens are dry everyone will have a go at printing their fabric. Each person will walk away with 1-3 metres of fabric and either a cushion cover or tea towel printed with their own one or two colour designs.

Beginners Fabric Screen Printing Workshop

A  2 day weekend course perfect for anyone who’d like to gain in-depth commercial knowledge of the paper screen printing process.

Starting on Saturdays will run from 10am-4pm on both the Saturday and Sunday with a 1 hour break for lunch. The available dates in the calendar signify the first day of the course.

Our experienced tutors will cover the following:

Saturday am
We’ll start with the artworking including design development and artwork creation techniques, colour separation and film printing.

Saturday pm
Screen preparation including coating and exposing will be covered in the first part of the session. We’ll then tackle registration for multiple colour designs and ink mixing with a focus on Pantone matching. You’ll also have a chance to print initial proofs of your design.

Sunday am
This is a full on printing day and each student will have the opportunity to print an edition of at least 10 prints. We will supply 310gsm paper but students are welcome to bring their own or we can organise delivery from our wholesale supplier.

Sunday pm
This will be your chance to finish any printing which wasn’t completed in week 3 and we can trim them so they are ready to Frame. This will also be the chance to get your edition photographed, as for a unlimited time we will be selling your edition through our 3rd Rail Presents Shop free and will be displayed in all our open studio exhibitions.
