6.5 hour class
This essential one-day workshop is the perfect starting point for all Canon EOS owners. Whether you’ve just got your first EOS camera, have returned to photography after a break or you aren’t getting the results you want and would benefit from a back-to-basics approach to improve your photography, this course will teach you what you need to start getting more from your camera and move away from the automated modes.
Before your course starts, you'll be sent a link to your pre-course tutorial. It'll be relevant to your EOS camera model and will give you an overview of the features and settings on your camera so you can navigate more easily around before you join us for the day.
LISTEN AND LEARN Starting off in the classroom, talking about camera terminology and the exposure triangle, you’ll learn about the core principles of photography. We will introduce the three key elements of ISO, aperture and shutter speed, explain what each one controls and how they combine.
To get you off the automated modes, you’ll learn about selected Creative modes – Program (P), Av (Aperture priority) and Tv (Shutter priority) – and how using these modes can give you much greater control and access to more creative effects.
Improving your success rate is critical, so you will find out how to get your shots sharper by learning what speeds you need to use to avoid the effects of camera shake and how to focus on your subject.
GET HANDS-ON During the practical session in the afternoon, we’ll carry out a series of short exercises to put the theory into practice. You’ll also spend time getting your shots sharp, as well as receiving some basic compositional advice.
At the end of the course you will have new-found confidence handling your EOS camera and you’ll have both the skills and resources you need to take greater control.
Learn about: – ISO, aperture and shutter speed and how they work together – How to hold your camera and identify common problems – Moving off the automated modes and using P, Av and Tv – Focusing modes and areas – Your camera’s functions and settings
We ensure quality. If your class doesn't reach your expectations, we'll give your money back.
About your host, EOS Training Academy
Learn how to use your camera, not how to shoot. That's the ethos at EOS Training Academy. They believe that knowing how your Canon EOS camera works and how to set it up to capture the image as you see it will improve your photography.
Whatever your level and experience, you'll find a course to suit you. If you have just got your first EOS camera, they’ll get you started by explaining the basics and moving you off Full Auto mode. If you’re already comfortable with your camera and want to fine-tune your skills, then you’ll find some of the more challenging and creative courses right up your street.
The comprehensive programme of courses has been developed over the last ten years and is constantly evolving to meet the needs of photographers and the changes in camera development.
The programme is split into two halves – workshops which are classroom-based events and more theory-led, and practical days which are predominantly hands-on learning. You'll always be in a small group so you can spend individual time with your tutor whilst also benefitting from the ideas and experience of fellow Canon photographers at a similar level to you.
EOS Training Academy's lecturing team is rather special. Unique in fact. Each tutor has a long and distinguished background at Canon, as well as being experienced photographers in their own right. Yet these four Canonites would all agree that they’re educators first, photographers second. That’s because they’re passionate about sharing their intimate knowledge and in-depth understanding of the Canon EOS system with you. And this is achieved via the carefully structured training programme held year-round, where our combined camera knowledge and photographic experience is shared with you, without limits.
Your course includes:– Pre-course video tutorial– Lunch and refreshments– Printed handoutBring your camera and kit lens with you, plus a charged battery and memory card for the practical session in the afternoon.
