What you will do
Our freestyle weaving class will get even the most inexperienced crafter making their own cloth within minutes of walking through our doors.
We will take you through the process of preparing your yarn and how to use various fibres and techniques to get you started and then our massive stash of over 400 yarns is yours to enjoy.
We use a simple two pedal floor loom that is perfect for both children from the age of 6 and adults to engage with this traditional craft and learn to make something new and unique with your own two hands. Once you have the basics down, you will be able to pick and choose your textures and colours at your own pace and taste.
Our 2 hour slot is plenty of time to make enough fabric for a wall hanging or small accessory like a purse or clutch bag. The 5 hour slot will be plenty of time to make a decent length of fabric. Perfect for a scarf or small garment.

About your host, The London Loom
The London Loom is a weaving studio in Hackney in East London, created by Francesca Kletz in 2016. The London Loom was founded to build a community of people who love making things with their hands and appreciate how good it is for you.
At The London Loom we want to encourage people to indulge in creating for pure satisfaction and fun. We hold community workshops and smaller classes in our studio where we welcome adults and children to work alongside each other; we believe that creativity and inspiration can come from anywhere, it’s not limited to age or background.
Francesca has been teaching weaving and other textile crafts since 2015 and has taught weaving workshops for Tate Modern, Southbank Centre, Scouts, Hackney Arc and the Royal Society of Sculptors and has appeared in (amongst others) Mollie Makes, Stylist, PomPom Quarterly, Time Out (on the front cover!) The Telegraph and is the author of Weave This (Hardie Grant 2018). The London Loom was also named Mollie Makes Best Craft Workshops of 2019.
Ultimately we want to share the good that we feel from learning new skills and making beautiful, tactile things. We teach and host a range of ‘alternative craft’ classes as well as our beginners weaving workshops, as long as there’s something to make, new people to meet and obnoxiously loud laughter to be had, we’re happy.
All students under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
