What happens in this class?

Maiden Aunt evenings are a world away from the classes you did at school. You're encouraged to talk to each other, doodle, daydream and even enjoy a drink (no pranks on the teacher though, please). Mistakes are embraced as part of the creative process and there's no such thing as a fail. We're all about creating a social experience so you get extra marks for swapping hints and tips, and telling each other how awesome the things they are making are. We love it when people continue the crafter party on socials and when there's some…

I attended the Brush Lettering Monthly Crafter Party. As a child I loved lettering and in particular calligraphy so I was fascinated to see what brush lettering was all about. It was more difficult than I thought as the technique was not what I expected. However, Jay guided me through how to do it and provide extra help and material when needed. I produced a small Christmas graphic (which I can turn into a Christmas Card) as well as everything I need to go home to practice and become an expert :) Again, it was a lovely evening where I could take time out and enjoy something for me.

I'm sure it would have been fantastic but unfortunately no one was there for our booked event! I am trying to get hold of the Maiden Aunt to rearrange for another day - my friend Catherine has emailed!

Relaxed and enjoyable Maiden Aunt session....came away with a lovely crocheted pot made with my own fair hands out of recycled T-shirt fabric. Jay provided all the materials and I left with instructions to make another, a giant crochet hook and, most importantly, new skills. I found that my basic knowledge of crochet was helpful, but Jay was on hand to help me and beginners alike.

I had such a great time making my succulent plant holder, using materials and techniques I've not tried before, under the expert guidance of Jay at Maiden Aunt. It was a perfectly timed and well organised activity but also a wonderful way to catch up with friends and meet new people. A thoroughly enjoyable experience and I now have a beautiful plant holder hanging in my home!!

Held in different locations around London, Monthly Crafting is a nice and easy workshop you can join every month. Each month you can make easy new things to proudly display at home. I made a tiny brass hanger for a succulent I was given and it’s now on my window!

It was a really fun and relaxing evening which was enjoyed with friends while turning your hand to something there’s not normally enough time to do. It was extremely well organised, all the tools and resources provided as well as detailed instructions. However, it was an informal environment such that Jay was always on hand to help and guide you along the way. A very different evening gossiping with friends and like mind people over a drink while taking the time to make something worthwhile.

I absolutely LOVE my geometric plant holder!! With Jay’s careful instruction it was actually quite easy to make. I had a wonderful evening catching up with friends over wine, pizza and crafting!

So much fun making sleep masks. It was lovely to have a glass of wine, some great chat and come away with a beautiful and functional mask!
