6 hour class
This is one for the spontaneous and crazy creatives out there - an opportunity to forget about rules and structure, and let your imagination guide you. In this West Hampstead class, learn the basics of improvisational patchwork to create a colourful and unique quilt. Suitable for complete beginners, although experience with a sewing machine is beneficial.
In this class
In this class with textile pro Jenny Haynes, you'll explore different ways to use pieced strips in an improvised patchwork, how to cut and assemble fabric strips, and different effects you can create with stripes. You'll also learn the more abstract art of bringing your own style and boundless imagination into the craft of patchworking.
Now you can
- assemble fabric strips into an array of exciting patterns
- create beautiful patchwork quilts to keep you warm and cosy throughout the year
- know just what you can achieve when you let your imagination run wild
Keep / Eat
Students are asked to bring or buy their own fabric (available to purchase from the Village Haberdashery). You'll need a selection of light to medium weight quilting cottons in contrasting colours (be it light/dark or warm/cold), 0.25 cm each of 4-6 fabrics. Everything else will be provided.
By the end of the class, you will have created a quilt top for either a lap or baby-sized quilt.
