6 hour workshop
**Now Christmas themed giving you the chance to knit a , hat**
These workshops are delivered in a fun and engaging way in a lovely community setting of a home studio.
All materials are provided and you will walk away having learnt some valuable skills you can put to use in your own time and for your own creations.
The workshops are delivered by an all-round knitwear professional who has worked at the highest levels in design, technical development, consultancy, and teaching. She specialises in hand, domestic and industrial knitting and teaches all aspects of these skills. Her own designs have featured in both British and Italian Vogue, as well as i-D magazine.
For these workshops, you should have attended the Beginners level workshop or have sufficient knowledge in using the knitting machine and its' operations and want to build on this.
Intermediate workshops will cover a number of more intermediate level knitting techniques with plenty of time to practice and experiment. The intermediate class builds upon the base knowledge learnt in the beginners class.
We will cover a range of techniques including
Fair Isle/Jacquard (Patterns) Using punchcard jacquard patterns Distorting and being creative with patterns Freehand patterns Tuck & Cabling (3D knit structures) Using punchcard tuck patterns Distorting Tuck patterns Cabling (single bed) Woven Knits (Weaving in and E-Wrapping) Using punchcard weaving patterns Experimental weaving with different yarns and materials Learning the principals of E-Wrapping Using punchcard E-Wrapping patterns Ribbing Attachment(double bed)
In each workshop you will create a range of samples to take away with you and learn from.
NB: The machines used for all classes will be Brother knitting machines. All equipment and yarns will be provided, along with technical notes with instructions to go with your class.

About your host, Knitsmart
Princess specialises in hand, domestic and industrial knitting and teaches all aspects of these skills. She offers fun one-to-one knitting classes at her fully-kitted out studio in South London.
With an MA in knitted textiles, Princess is a knitwear designer with many years’ experience in the arts and fashion sector. She is currently studying for a pHD while also managing her own creative studio ‘Knitsmart’ in South London.
For the past 7 years she has worked as a Design Tutor and Technician at both London College of Fashion and Chelsea College of Art teaching talented fashion and textile students on both a one-to-one basis and in a workshop setting.
Princess is an all-round knitwear professional working at the highest levels in design, technical development, consultancy, and teaching. Her own design work has featured in both British and Italian Vogue, as well as i-D magazine. Her technical knowledge includes fabric development and garment constructions and she has gained some valuable knowledge and experience working with companies such as Donna Karen New York (DKNY), Christian Lacroix and National Archives. Princess currently works closely with a number of exciting design companies and freelance designers.
