About the Tutor: Aimee Betts is a Mixed Media Textile Designer specialising in embroidery and braiding. She produces one off bespoke products for interiors and seasonal jewellery collections, working from her home studio in South East London. Aimee’s work explores the parallels and cross overs between traditional knotting, braiding and hand embroidery techniques. She takes inspiration from a variety of books, studying the details of leather craft, sailor’s knots to the A-Z of embroidery.
Every project begins with a research trip wandering through international museums and galleries. Here she analyses historic artefacts and architectural details to uncover hidden stories that trigger her imagination.
Aimee can apply her craft to hard and soft surfaces, adapting her braiding and embroidery techniques so they sit comfortably onto forms and interior fabrics. These combined techniques along with Aimee’s perceptive eye for colour and materials are used to create her distinct collections of pull handles, lighting, mirrors, soft furnishings, tassels and jewellery.

About your host, Stag and Bow
Stag and Bow was set up in 2010 by founders Pascale and Cyrus, as a celebration of sharing skills, stories, knowledge, and all things handmade. As well as running a stunning shop in Forrest Hill, Stag and Bow also provide informative, fun and inspiring craft and textile workshops.
Cyrus is a specialist woodworker and designer with great experience in a variety of design disciplines, with strong focus on the "poetic" side of materials and how people can relate to them. Similarly, Pascale is in her element when she is making, fully immersing herself in the textile world.
Through these workshops, Pascale and Cyrus are able to pass on their collected wealth of experience of the textile trade. Their meticulous choice of materials and infectious attention to detail is passed on to the students as they seek to further their own craft!
